….
I relax my face as I stand back up on the branch, 'Luckily, I had 2 back up plans in mind if this didn't work out. I bet Mayonaka is itching to fight.'
"Who's Mayonaka?" Asks Sky in a curious tone, having not heard of her before.
I hold out my hand as my smile returns, "Arise! This is Mayonaka."
Suddenly, the earth begins to rumble beneath the demons, who were currently overwhelming their enemy. The demons frenziedly look around, only for a massive leg to reach for the sky before firmly planting on the ground. The enemies gaze in shock at the massive leg, their imaginations beginning to run wild.
Moments later, another erupts from the ground, causing the mages, who were feeling hopeful as the enemies began to be pushed back. But even the demons appear slightly shook from such a fearsome sized being, causing them to watch in horror.
The world seems to shrink as a massive body escapes the shadows beneath the hoard of red monsters. Some demons topple off of the black armor plating coating the entire creatures body, squealing as they fall with a few soft thuds.
Slowly, a titanic shadow grows across the battlefield, blocking out the moonlight as it seemingly pours buckets of water on any last tinders of hope.
Two white eyes gaze across the battlefield before looking up into the moonlight sky, screeching at the top of her lungs. Trees seemingly tremble from her voice, her long legs smashing anything they step on, including some unlucky demons.
"Woah…." I hear Sky whisper in awe. I nod in approval, 'Yup, Mayonaka is a Vine Raptor queen I defeated. She doesn't stand a chance in front of me.'
Sky doesn't replay so we watch the large vine raptor silently, enjoying the scene before us. While gazing at this glorious moment, I hear a voice beneath me interrupt it, "Hurry! Summon more demons! Spare mages! Help the Igris guards and lend them mana! All remaining mages continue summoning!"
I look down as I see the captain, his face covered in cold sweat as he points around, barking orders from on top of his massive lizard. I silently drop down from the branch as I keep my eyes on him. He was who I was originally looking for, taking out the head of the operation will disorganize the soldiers and make their defeat quicker.
But in order to sneak up on him without suspicion, I first created chaos as I killed a few mages and guards here and there, distracting just enough to let the soldiers create chaos. The amount of demons summoned and the failure to summon them though was something I thought about. So summoning Mayonaka was my fallback, but if this wouldn't of worked, I would've had to join the main battle personally yet again.
I look up at Mayonaka as I fall and make one simple command, 'Kill all who stand in your way.' She doesn't even need to think as she begins to slash and stomp on them with ferocity, causing quakes to shake across the earth as blood sprays everywhere, coating the battlefield in a crimson mist.
I quickly refocus on the main mission as I land on the ground quietly. I quickly look around, making sure that there are no other guards guarding him besides the ones I can see. After confirming, I focus on the two guards at his sides and flick my wrists. The scythe in my right tentacle flings forward and lodges firmly in his skull, the left tentacle piercing the other guards neck before going down his windpipe and yanking outward, killing both on the spot.
The commander begins to turn around, but I don't give him the chance as leap forward, tackling him to the ground. Before his mount can react, I take the scythe and chop downward on the creatures neck, cutting its head off and killing it instantly.
My hand firmly stays grasped around the commander's throat as my tentacle cuts his vocal cords, destroying his ability to speak. He is somewhat built, has long gray hair, and a wise looking face. He has all human features, except, he lacks the pointed ears the people at Soca's kingdom have and instead have human ears along with horns growing from his head. Shock floats in his eyes before he feels a sharp pain in his throat, causing him to try and reach for it.
He firmly grips my wrist as he tries to get me to let go, but I do no such thing as he struggles to try and move my arm a hair. I stare at him as my demonic voice echoes in his ears, "I have decided to spare you, but I have other plans so stay put till I come back."
Hundreds of thoughts run through the leader's mind at this moment, 'How did I not sense him? How is he so strong to over power me? Someone who is at the top of power! What are these plans he has? He isn't gonna turn me into one of those shadow people is he?!'
But before he can even move, I use 'Absolute Shadow' and cuff his arms to his legs before throwing him over my shoulder, dragging the beast corpse further into the woods before dropping him beside it.
I calmly walk towards the edge of the forest as Sky asks, "So why did you cut his vocal cords?"
I then explain to Sky it was for 2 reasons, first off, he didn't want his captive yelling for assistance as that could be problematic. Second off, he didn't want him casting magic, which can be cast silently, but it requires much practice and usually someone to be at the top of B rank, which he can guarantee that guard was not.
Sky, satisfied with my answer, stops asking as she lets me focus on combat, which I could easily do while talking anyway. But I don't mind as I wave my hand, 'Arise.'
My shadow grows behind me as Yogan crawls out, walking beside me as he awaits an order. I don't hesitate as I tell him, "Charge the enemies from the left, I'm gonna go in from the right while creating a barrier to cut off their escape routes…except leave one alive, let that person escape and have a shadow follow them stealthily, I need to find out where their kingdom is. Granted, I'll be sending any and all refugees to Soca's kingdom as unharmed as possible."
Yogan nods and skitters to my left, entering a set of bushes and leaving my site in an instant. I crack my neck as I prepare to get the barrier ready, 'This is almost over. I wonder how many enemies I currently have defeated in my mission.'
