I hear Emily to my side, shock in her voice, "What is that coming from your hand?!"
Sky panics as she hurriedly enters my hand, a fierce pain ripping through my wrist. Any regular person would be crying or even wincing in pain, but my face doesn't show any reaction from it. After what I experienced in the time loop all those years ago, and my current rank, it felt like nothing.
I shake my arm as the opening on my hand disappears, "Sorry about her, she is...one of my friends." I say carefully, trying to not scare Emily who already looks bewildered.
Her eyes go wide as she hears me speak, "Why is a bug in your hand a companion?! And she?!"
I grin at Emily's reaction as I remember my first encounter with Sky a little while ago and the clumsy awakening I had. I was testing my new abilities and had attached to a wall and then proceeded to destroy the bathroom trying to let go.
I shake my head as I bring myself back to reality, "Yes. It's okay, she won't hurt you and she doesn't hurt me. She is very gentle hearted when it comes to innocent people."
I hear Sky in the back of my head, "Awww, that's so nice. Thank you."
However, Emily looks like she is already regretting sheathing her dagger, "Innocent? What about guilty people?"
I hear Sky answer in the back of my head again, "We simply make them pay for whatever they did, the severity is up to Kurayami though."
I repeat what she said to Emily, who shivers at the response. I ignore her as I turn back to the suit of armor, "However, all she wanted to do was help me paint. Would you refuse her that?"
Emily opens her mouth before promptly shutting it, not having any excuse to say no. Even if she feels odd about this mysterious creature, she doesn't have any control over it. However it takes her a moment and she clears her throat after a minute of silence, "If I can meet her officially, then no."
I practically feel a jolt of excitement jump inside me as Sky slowly crawls back towards my hand, but I can sense a overwhelming flood of shyness wash over. "How am I going to talk to her? I haven't talked to other humanoid beings besides you Kurayami...will my looks ruin my chances at making new friends? I wonder what we will talk about. Are we going to talk about blades or maybe fauna?"
I smile from underneath my mask at how cute Sky is acting, this outburst of emotions reminding me that she is not just an extension of my being, but an entirely separate person...well "person."
I quickly reassure her, 'I will be your voice so don't worry, use my vocal cords as you need. Just...please don't snap them. Plus, your adorable, so don't worry about your looks.'
I feel her shy and excited emotions calm slightly as she answers, "If you say so...you can't really lie to me since I am kinda connected to your brain. But it makes me feel more confident to know this is how you actually feel."
I look back at Emily as I slowly extend my hand, my palm flat in front of her. Suddenly, my skin splits in 2 as the insides are fully revealed, forcing even her to try and resist throwing up from the gross scene. Killing people and seeing their insides are completely different. A simple stab to the heart can kill someone just as easily as gutting them alive.
Slowly, a blue shelled head pops out from the muscle and tendon filled abyss, the veins and bones on full display behind her. 7 eyes cautiously float across the surroundings of the room before nodding.
The small, 7 eyed head slowly crawls from the hidden cave of my hand. Her blue carapaced body warily leaves from my hand as Emily stares at Sky with confusion, shock, and curiosity.
After all, a sentient creature living in someone isn't normal, and this is the first time she has seen something like this.
Emily gazes at Sky's carapace with curiosity as Sky calmly sits, gazing at her as well. After several minutes of silence, Emily speaks up.
"Does she really not hurt?"
I shake my head, "Nope, she either cuts the nerves off or applies a numbing fluid."
She continues staring for a moment when I hear Sky ask, "Can I speak?"
I nod and not even a second later, I feel as if I lose control of my head, as if on autopilot. A higher pitched version of my voice escapes my mask, sounding slightly rough at the start though. "Nice to meet you, I'm Sky."
Emily stares at me, as if I am nuts before a wave of freedom flows across my face again. I hurriedly explain, "I told Sky that she could use my voice to communicate, so she was the one speaking, not me. You can differentiate our voices because her's will be higher pitched."
Emily slowly nods as she gives a prolonged, "Okay," still processing what just happened.
After a little bit more of explaining, Sky and Emily started talking, although Emily was noticeably uncomfortable at first. But as they talked more, I could see Emily relax, granted slowly.
I watched silently as Sky and Emily talked, all control having seemingly left from my body. As they began to talk more, I began to see Emily smile more, which causes me to resist smiling as well. A seemingly radiant glow comes from her when her teeth flash for just a moment, as if a whole new person appears. But this aura is quickly cut off as her smile disappears.
A little while later, I hear the door to my side open, along with a wave of steam flooding into the room. I hear footsteps walk out of the bathroom when their tempo suddenly stops, causing the momentary warm air to send a chill up my spine. I quickly put my hands behind my back as I feel my face freed from control.
Soca has her hair and body wrapped in two separate towels as water drops down from her hair which has yet to dry. She points her finger at my hands as she speaks in a curious yet kind tone, "What was that?"
I shrug as I show my hands, revealing bare palms, "What? My hands?"
She looks at them for a moment, searching for something. She gives up after a moment and shrugs, "Guess I was seeing things." And walks towards the bed.
Emily stares at me confused, why not just tell her? I put my finger where my lips would be and quietly whisper, "Shhhh."
