After taking several breaths, I ask the man before me, who looks like he is having a calm day, "What are you exactly?"
He rubs his chin as he contemplates, his tail moving from side to side as he does so. After another minute of tense silence, he responds casually.
"I am what you call a higher being. That is the best way of putting it." He smiles at me as he seemingly waits for my response, his talon gauntlets and spear like tail staring me down menacingly.
I stay silent as I think it over, moments later, already coming to a conclusion, "Are you saying you're a god?"
He shakes his head from side to side, "I guess you could call me that, yes. Although from a dating point of view, I'm no better than a rock."
"..."
'We were talking about you, not your dating situation!' I inwardly yell as I sigh, for a god, he sure is carefree. I continue to ask him questions, each one getting a more vague answer than the last.
After several questions, I finally ask him, at the end of my wits, "What do you know about the system?"
He has a look of confusion as he tilts his head, "What system?"
I am irritated at this guy's attitude, 'Either he is being serious or an idiot. Either way, I wanna slap him.' I think as I look angrily at his confused expression. Moments later, he laughs as he waves me off, "No worries, I was just kidding."
I sigh again, his joking attitude seemingly never ending as the anger leaves my body. I notice how much I have sighed within these past several moments and realize I need to stop or else I will just start sighing for no reason.
His face becomes serious as he slowly looks towards the cliff edge, "Somebody's been listening and I was waiting for them to attack, so that is why I was giving sarcastic answers. But it appears they don't plan one leaving."
I glance at the cliff, realizing that there definitely was someone watching us. 'I just shrugged the feeling off as his aura, but it really wasn't. So that is why he was answering sarcastically, he was trying to provoke the person to attack or lose interest and leave.'
A women about 5'6ft tall appears at the edge of the cliff, a younger woman standing slightly behind her. Both appear to be in their 20s as they stare at us, the one in front having a grin. The clothes they wear are very similar, the girl in front wearing a golden dress with black lines. The younger girl behind her wears a silver dress with similar black lines, the symbol of a dove on their foreheads.
I jump up as I reach into my inventory, my scythe appearing in my hands moments later. Whoever these 2 are, they caused this god called The Author to act serious. So these 2 are no regular beings, plus, regular humans don't appear in this world.
The woman in the black lines dress walks forward, "Seems you have been scouting a student. If he is good enough for you to scout, then he has to be skilled."
She looks over at me, the scythe in my hand gleaming with a deadly light. 'Scouting? What does she mean?'
She continues to walk forward, her voice condescending. "But my student is better than him. No matter how good he is, he's still in the mortal realm if he is still lives here."
'Mortal Realm? What is she blabbering about?' I glance over at The Author, but his facial expression has only gone dark as his tail and fingers flick. He looks like a predator, ready to pounce.
"I won't have you interfering in my plans again Taskra. I will give you and your student over there 1 minute to leave before I shred you." He says, his voice deeper than even a demon itself. A droplet of sweat appears on Taskra's skin as her eyes narrow.
"Please, you wouldn't destroy your target's planet just to settle a grudge against a little god like me." She says as she smiles wryly, trying to hide her fear.
She glances back at her student, "I will leave if he can beat my student. He should be good enough to at least fight a demi-god if your scouting him, right?"
The author glances at me with his blood red eyes, "Remember back then when I said you owe me, I want you to repay your debt by fighting her student. But be warned, she is a demi-god. I know your strong but so is she, most demi-gods are."
I go to say something when I remember his words after the fight between me and Aurora.
—————————————————————
"I saved you this time so you won't be locked up in that divine prison. Your mind was clouded by an amount of rage I have never seen before. Luckily, I was able to save you before you did something you would regret. You owe me now."
—————————————————————
'He had saved me from being gassed, but is fighting a demi-god really worth it? I don't know how strong they are compared to continental class beasts, but they gotta be near equal or even more powerful.' After careful consideration, I nod. Taskra has a smile that is by no means kind, as if she has already won.
But I quickly hold up my finger, "However, this is being done for more than what you owe me. I want information if I win, no excuses."
The Author nods, "That is an understandable request. You are risking your life after all."
I quickly speak again, giving no one any time to breath, "And I request we go to a barren spot on the planet, I don't want to destroy any part of this area!"
The Author nods as he cuts his hand, a red portal forming from his blood. "This way, this is a good spot which meets your requirements." He disappears into the portal, the red aura engulfing him.
I silently follow as I see the smiling Taskra leave my view, entering the crimson portal. My vision is crimson red for a moment before I am shot out, a desert covering my view.
I get up as I brush off the dirt, grabbing my scythe which I had accidentally dropped.
"Am I the only one confused?" Asks Sky innocently.
I shake my head, 'No, I am also confused by all of this, but I accepted this fight for answers, and I will be damned if I don't get them.' I inwardly complain as I remember the sarcastic answers I had gotten from him that entire time.'
I hear footsteps behind me as two figures step out of the portal. Taskra and her student. As I look over her student, I notice she looks quite beautiful. Snow white skin, black hair, blue eyes. She has an ice cold aura surrounding her, which would probably cause many to freeze.
"Well, let's get this started." Says Taskra as she walks towards where The Author is standing, but keeping a semi-large distance between them.
I walk over towards a dead bush as I flip back around, waving my hand as a black box appears beside me. The ice cold maiden silently stares at me as an intricate glowing sword materializes in her hands, its large 5 ft size making her seem small in comparison.
I open the box as I equip my gear, putting on my suit and mask. I put on my boots as I inwardly explain to Sky, 'I am going to try the parasitic form. I have felt its toughness and it is even stronger than my Dragonborn form, the only downside is I can't see magic if she uses it, would you be willing to be my eyes as I use magic?'
"Yes! I can! I don't know what you can see but I can see on several spectrums with my eyes. You can count on me." She responds firmly.
'I need you to warn me when it's incoming as well, I have to make this trade off since I need as much defense as possible. I can't use my Divine Beast form as it's too large for a fight like this.'
"You can count on me, don't worry!" Reassures Sky.
'Morph, parasite, Pain Ignorance.' My skin hardens as it turns black and glossy, my eyes glaze over as my vision changes. Antennae grow on my head as my toes merge, except this time, a set of 7 eyes is on my forehead.
'Pain Ignorance. Thank gosh for that ability or this transformation would of hurt like hell again.' I think as I deactivate the ability.
'But now, it is time to fight for my future. Against a demi-god no less.'
