The pilgrimage to the Primordial Temple of Space was something Xukong had planned for Lin Mu to experience at some point, but he had not yet decided on the appropriate time. The enlightenment one could gain from the temple was highly dependent on the individual, and to Xukong, Lin Mu wouldn't benefit as much from it at his current stage.
This was why Xukong had been delaying it, compounded by the fact that the right conditions had not been met. While he could show Lin Mu the temple again in the future, the benefits from repeated exposure would likely be diminished. As such, it was better to space out these visits. However, since Xing Duyi had desired the pilgrimage and Xukong was obligated to fulfill this wish, he reasoned it was an opportune moment for Lin Mu to experience it as well. The outcome had exceeded Xukong's expectations, as Lin Mu managed to earn some enlightenment from the visit.
