Chapter 3 - 3 Reconnecting

[POV: Joy]

"Hey um... Iris?"

"Yeah?"

"Think you could let go? We've been standing here for about 5 minutes now and everybody is staring. Plus, I think Mrs. Sharpe would like to start homeroom."

"Oh, sorry, but we're talking later!"

I smile at Iris making a pouty face. It's kind of cute. I mean, she always was and still is. She was always the shortest in class and right now she's only about 4' 11", but she did grow in size. She's like a literal hourglass, with at least D cup breasts and wide hips. She has gorgeous baby blue/grey eyes and still has her iconic pitch black as night hair. One side is buzzed, while the other side from the top of her head and bangs down are curved short from the back to about jawline length towards the front. There are also some dyed strips of hair that looks like the pride rainbow hanging off her bangs.

Her voice matches her height perfectly, because honestly, she still sounds the same as when she was in 6th grade. It's like her height and voice against her hair, body shape, and attitude (which I just saw) give off the perfect definition of gap moe. It's like her entire existence is a contradiction in-and-of itself. I'm really glad to see she's alright though. I may have disappeared from Iris' life for my own selfishness, but I've always wondered and cared about her.

Mrs. Sharpe cleared her throat to bring us to attention. "Well, I'm glad to see you two getting along, but I'd like to start homeroom please. We'll finish introducing you in tomorrow's homeroom if that's alright with you Joy?"

"Oh, yeah, of course. Sorry Mrs. Sharpe." I look around the room then back at my teacher to ask, "So um... where should I sit?"

"You can take the empty desk behind Miss Monroe if that's alright with you two?"

Iris and I stare at each other and smile then turn towards Mrs. Sharpe and reply at the same time. "Perfect!" "Yeah!" We both sit down at our desks and giggle. Mrs. Sharpe shakes her head with a resigned smile and goes over topics being covered throughout the school for the first semester of the school year. As she's talking the bell rings.

"Alright class, go to your first periods. Since we had some interruptions today we'll introduce ourselves for those who don't know each other tomorrow." I blush in embarrassment over this statement. I still don't know where my locker is and I'd like to drop off some of my books so I'm not carrying everything.

Getting up the courage I ask Iris, "Hey, uhm, Iris?" She turns to look at me while I tuck a strand of hair behind my ear. Did she just gulp? "Do you think... you can show me where my locker and first class are?"

"Of course I would, and it would give us a chance to talk on the way too."

We get up and make our way out the door but not before bidding farewell to the teacher. I'm glad she stands up to people like that jerk from before. I'm grateful for it. Iris asks, "So what stream are you in?"

"Uhm, I'm in the science stream."

"Well, shoot, I'm in the arts stream. I specialize in graphic arts. So anything from painting, design, that kinda shit. I guess we won't have any classes together unless you have Phys Ed class too."

"I do, fourth period after lunch."

"O-M-G!" Did she just spell out 'omg'? "Who's your teacher?!"

"Hold on lemme look... It's looks like... Miss Wood?"

I'm kind of wishing I didn't tell her, because I think I just ruptured an eardrum. Her voice is high pitched... and loud... and she just screeched right beside me. Not only that but it's also drawing attention to us which is something I'm not a fan of. I know it sounds like a contradiction because I give speeches in front of huge audiences, but this kind of thing is different. I'm a very private person and have never been one that likes to be the center of attention. I put my hand on her shoulder to stop her.

Iris stops and says, "What's up?"

"Uhm... can you not do that? I'm not a fan of the attention and now my ear kinda hurts."

"Hahaha! Sorry, just kinda got excited there." She looks up at me. "Why don't you like the attention though?"

"I just kind of like my privacy and not being on everyone's radars."

"Well, I don't think that it'd matter anyway. You're gorgeous and I think you're going to turn heads wherever you go. OH!" I blush at her brashness and she bows to a locker on the wall like she's a butler, disregarding the fact she kind of just flirted with me. "Here's your locker, milady."

I giggle at her antics and see out of the corner of my eye while putting in my combination that she's obviously eyeing me up and down and biting her lower lip like she was in class when I caught her staring at me. It's just making me blush more and I think she can obviously see that I am.

"Hey, Iris?"

She gives a non-verbal response to show she heard me. I turn to her after putting my books away and push some hair behind my ear.

"Think you can stop staring at me? I can obviously feel you undressing me with your eyes."

I see her eyes go wide. She coughs into her fist and turns away obviously flustered. I giggle at how cute the gap in her behavior is. "Sorry," she mutters.

"It's fine. Just try not to make it so obvious next time." She whips her head back, facing me again, and I wink at her, causing me to finally see her blush. I raise my brow, smiling, and ask, "Think you can show me where my class is now?"

She clears her throat. It's kind of nice to see her so flustered. "Oh, yeah... yeah. Ahem, which teacher is it?"

"Mr. Dinkle."

"Pfft!" I glare at her a little. "Sorry, I can't help it. Every time I hear his name I laugh. Rude... rude, I know. Ahem, Sorry."

We make our way to my class catching up and talking a little about our interests. Before we separate to go to class, we give a quick hug to each other and make an appointment to meet at my locker before going to have lunch together with her friends.
