Chereads / The Golden Path Redux / Chapter 16 - Revenge

Chapter 16 - Revenge

The little lord had begun to enact his "revenge".

Just as he had planned, any who met his path were severely criticized. His harsh comments caused several servants to break down in tears and guards were on their way!

Strong people soon arrived, intent on putting a stop to the disturbance. When they saw the little lord, he noticed them as well.

Naturally, the two were immediately berated severely!

In a stream of insults, all of their flaws were immediately laid out in the open.

Things that had been holding their cultivation back were ascribed to their stupidity by the little lord.

Out of curiosity, one of the guards had foolishly asked the little lord how to improve his cultivation.

That was when everything went south!

The little lord's vile advice was insulting but had been very effective.

The guard immediately broke through in his cultivation!

The other guards naturally noticed this and soon a group of people was breaking through!

They all cheered but their supervisor was horrified!

He tried stopping more of the guards from approaching the little lord but it was already too late.

One of the guards broke through and encountered a tribulation!

A loud thunderstrike flew down from the heavens and struck the cultivator!

The man was roasted but survived and was brought to the infirmary.

The supervisor had long been joined by Melissa who had assumed command of the scene.

Immediately orders were issued to keep staff and guards away from the little machine spirit!

Melissa knew that if more breakthroughs were to happen the mansion would end up damaged.

And what if someone died because of tribulation?

It was better to avoid the troublemaker and let her mistress sort it all out.

She had told her everything already anyway.

Turia was stunned when she heard the news:

'Against all expectations, the little one has returned on his own!'

'And in what kind of manner as well!'

'I never would have thought of disabling the guards, by advancing their cultivations!'

'This should be getting very interesting!'

While Turia and Duunim were aware of the situation and the approaching little lord, Theodore had a bad premonition.

All he had heard were shouting followed by cheering and a loud thunderous explosion.

It had been an odd combination and so he sat there flabbergasted.

He was trying hard to understand what he just heard but soon saw the newest arrival.

"Ha ha ha!"

"You can't be fucking serious!"

The sight of the little lords newly acquired "face" caused a burst of laughter to explode out of Theodore's mouth.

The little thing looked like a misshapen emoji and worse yet, it wore a look of ecstasy as it approached.

Theodore found it hard to take the little lord serious, to begin with, but the "face" was too much!

Turia however, had a solemn look on her face as they saw the little lord.

'I felt something from it! Something is not right here!'

Turia's eyes narrowed at the thought of it. This was too important!

'It should not have this much mana…. unless he awoke a mana ability on his own!'

The little lord arrived and simply floated in front of the three.

A throne made from red mana appeared and he sat down.

Of course, the throne was made high enough, so that he could look down on all before him.

All was as it should be as far as the little lord was concerned.

Turia was the first to speak up:

"Have you had enough fun? one of the guards almost died!"

"Humph! The unworthy fool should have prepared for his tribulation! What a moron he was!"

The little lord saw nothing wrong with what happened. He had simply corrected a foolish mistake!

"What happened to your mana, little one?"

Turia struck straight at the heart of the matter with her question.

"This little lord has once more distinguished himself! Since this lord has always been superior, we awakened the most sublime ability!"

The little lord was being surprisingly amiable towards Turia.

He had completely stopped berating her for now, as he had realized that she was much stronger than he was.

In a bid to play the long game he would berate her slowly over time!

Who said the little lord was incapable of strategy? The news exploded in Turia's ears!

"What kind of ability?!"

She was on the edge of her seat!

Duunim and Theodore were no different and everyone watched the little lord "smile".

"This lord has awakened the sacred art of [Berate]! It allows us to instantly understand the flaws of all you fools and berate you with precision!"

"…"

There was complete silence inside the pavilion as the little lord's mangled version of a "face" looked at the group in absolute triumph.

To Turia, it was a dream come true!

She had now encountered two individuals naturally sensitive to mana!

And after waiting for twenty years!

Unlike Turia, Theodore was struck with a terrible feeling of dread.

His worst fears were realized, when he heard the little lord's proud proclamation.

Theodore had seen the tribulation lightning earlier as well and had assumed, that the guard almost died because the heavens punished the little lord.

Theodore discovered that the situation was way worse than he had assumed:

'If the little lord has spoken the truth, all of my secrets and flaws would be seen through!'

'How am I going to counter any of his arguments or use any good come-backs?'

'Don't tell me I am to be punished by having the little lord follow me constantly?'

Duunim had an eyebrow raised and was currently very confused.

He tried hard to understand what had happened, that allowed the little lord to acquire a mana ability.

Nothing about the whole thing made sense at all to Duunim:

'This was simply not supposed to happen! Thousands of machine cultivators have tried. It is unheard of!'

'What was the variable that allowed it? The little one has been starved in the beginning, is that it?'

Turia's and Duunim's thoughts were currently almost identical.

They arrived at the same conclusion together as they looked at Theodore in shock!

'The only variable is him!'
