Chereads / Alpha Levi / Chapter 21 - twenty-one

Chapter 21 - twenty-one

"Mom.. I've missed you. You won't believe the things I've gone through since I've left." I told her as I drank the hot tea she gave me.

She gulped, "do I even want to know?" I let out a small chuckle and shook my head, "probably not."

My eyebrows furrowed and I scanned the area. "Where's dad? I was hoping I'd be able to speak to him." My mother set her cup of tea down on the table and rubbed her hands together while frowning.

I did the same and scooted next to her, "mom? what happened while I was gone?"

She sighed and began, "just three days ago… it was a late night and I didn't feel like cooking. I just had a bad feeling swirling at the pit of my stomach. So your father and I decided to go out and get a pizza, like usual,"

So far so good…

she continued, "when your father walked into the restaurant his eyes met… another woman's. I swear I even saw hers sparkle. It was his mate, he had found his mate."

My eye widened and I immediately pulled my mother in for a hug. They've been married ever since I was born and he left her just like that? For a wolf he hadn't even known for a day?! My mother was an amazing woman!

Tears welled up in her eyes. "Ever since that day I've just been blaming myself. If I wouldve just been less lazy and cooked we would've never went to that pizzeria and they wouldnt have met."

"Do not blame yourself mom. This is all on him, the mate bond does not affect the human as much as the wolf so he could have resisted it! He's just a dirty piece of-"

My mother shushed me and wiped her eyes. "I don't want to talk about it anymore. He is with his soulmate and as long as he is happy I don't mind."

The words she said did not match up with the pain that filled her eyes.

"Have you been here by yourself since then?" I asked her softly. She nodded and looked around, "it's quite quiet in here without you and your father. I missed my baby so much." She pulled me in for another hug, which I gladly accepted.

She pulled back from the hug quickly and raised a single eyebrow. "Oh Naomi… don't tell me you ran away from the alpha again."

I rubbed my face and shrugged, "I had to. I saw my chance and I took it. He's… he's too much for me mom, I can't be what he needs me to be- for him and the pack I just can't. I'm not ready for those responsibilities."

She nodded, letting me know she understood. "It is not your fault, my sweet. You're so brave and strong Naomi. You should have every right to your own freedom and when you want to have kids or be a Luna," she said, "but, you have to also acknowledge that fate brought you two together for a reason, it is your choice wether you want to discover that reason or not. No matter how many issues you stumble across with him, at the end of the day it will always be you and Levi."

Her words struck my heart like a lightning bolt. She was completely right. I felt a slight bond between Levi and I since the first day we met and everyday it grew stronger and stronger as we got closer to each other.

And I wasn't gonna lie, every moment since we've been apart, all I could think about was him. I stared down at my hands, what did I want?

One minute I hated him for marking me without my consent and the next I want to be cuddled up in his arms. My heart and mind were at war. Did I want to go back to him? Either way, his seekers would find me like Amaya did, but did I want to speed up the process?

Thoughts rolled through my head at the speed of light. But I also I had to think of my mother. She was all alone here, my father was gone and soon I'd be taken back as well if we didn't leave with her.

I hated being in this position, having to choose between Levi and my mother. One would think the decision would be completely obvious. Ever since I left my mother all ive thought about was her so why now that I'm with her, I'm thinking at him?

I looked out the window and saw people walk by. At any moment that could be a werewolf coming to retrieve me.. or even him coming to take me back. I had to make a decision.

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes.

"Mom. Grab a luggage and throw as many clothes as you can in it. We're going to leave, right now." I sternly said. I wasn't one hundred percent with this plan, half of me was begging to return to Levi but I couldn't leave my mother alone here. I couldn't.

"Naomi. Are you completely sure about this? You've been through a lot, I think you should take a nap and-" she began before I interrupted her, "no, mom, I want to leave. I've made up my mind. I don't want to leave you."

She smiled at me which I grinned back at her. She took a deep breath and stood up, "I guess I'll go pack."

"Yes. Hurry, I don't know how many seekers are out to find me but, there surely are a few already in this town. We have to hurry. Im gonna go to the store to grab some more resources. I'll be back soon okay? Pack me some clothes."

My mother agreed to it and ran upstairs to her room and grabbed two suitcases. I went to my room and smiled, remembering the memories I had in here. I grabbed a black cap and glasses and slipped them on. Hopefully this would help disguise me.

I walked back outside into the cold and began to make my way to a nearby grocery store. I would often walk there to buy small things like bread or milk for my mother. A part of me would miss this small town.

Just in seven minutes, I made it to the grocery store in no time and bought pain relievers, more waters for my mother, a bag of chips, granola bars, medicines just in case me or my mother got sick and another pair of sunglasses because, why not?

In the store I caught many people staring at me. 'Could they be seekers?' I thought to myself every time, but I was just being paranoid.

I bought my items and walked back to my house. I'd hoped my mom was done packing already. I didn't want to stay in this town for any longer, it was making me go crazy.

When I arrived, the door was cracked open a bit, allowing the breeze to flow in. I furrowed my eyebrows and slowly stepped in. I didn't remember leaving that door open…

"Mom? Are you finished packing?" I called out as I set my grocery bag on the floor. Silence. Fear struck my heart, a seeker was probably here. Did it kill my mother?

In a flash I was pressed up against a wall by a man. I looked up into his eyes and all time seemed to stop.

"Levi?" I mumbled out.
