Weirdly enough Daeho's life stayed the same, the same old and monotonous routine, besides the slight recognition and the newfound attention he got once he was at school and in the company building, nothing of much could be said to be done.
It was time for tests to be done at school, and to say it wasn't weighing upon him, would be a lie. It is not about having to be at the very top of the grade or anything like that, but for the sake of his reputation, or resume it would sit well to ace the tests.
Being bad at studies or just passing isn't bad, it was a mentality he had in his previous life and neglected a little, although he still maintained at least B to above, he knew he could have done a lot better. Obviously, he had many things besides just studying and that wouldn't allow him to keep his focus on the matters most of the time. Being adopted in a sense made him have a complex of wanting attention from a person or the little ray of light that gave him warmth in the cold and ruthless society or what he perceived as such.
Daeho was sure that his obsession for praise and recognition came because of how he wanted to be seen by his adoptive mother at the time, and although unhealthy to live life for that, it had been a drive that pushed him forward during many difficult times. It isn't easy to work toward an objective and what most of the time prevails is just giving up for a little bit of procrastinating for a little bit. He obviously would push himself and push these bad thoughts out of his mind for the sole purpose of that.
But he was only human and going around learning guitar, piano, and training for the competitions, coupled with learning self-defense or martial arts, just brought his young brain to exhaustion and that led to lapses in focus which were reflected on his grades, which weren't bad by any means.
And now he wanted to give his all not only for the past but to build a good image around him. It isn't like people would care, but he knew that people would eventually nit pick on it. For many instances, the lives of celebrities would come out, and their school life too, and if it wasn't the brightest, it would eventually stay there for the rest of the career.
The showbiz would be both strong and fragile at the same time, in the sense of in order to pertain a certain image to the public they show the audience the best of themselves, trying to overshadow in many ways the disadvantages they have, or the so called flaws. Obviously, it entails a lot on the fanbase, and your image will reflect the fanbase you have.
For instance, if you follow someone and everyone just says that person is a humble guy, which is ready to help and all of these vices, the said person will be viewed by people who don't even know him in the slightest as such. People only believe what they hear from the majority and rarely come to terms with their own opinion of someone. This train of thought has many flaws because to build a fanbase who believes wholeheartedly in you like that, you would have to do many things to be viewed in that light.
Daeho didn't want to have a label categorized by society as bad on him if with an effort he could change it. So after his training, he would rush home and study. Quite the excessive thought but if it brought many advantages to himself.
The next day would be the last assigned test day so he was just casually doing exercises on the related subject when his phone began vibrating on top of the table. Daeho who was focusing on the task at hand shifted his attention to the phone to see who was calling him this late at night, after all, it was 9 pm and he wasn't expecting a call. Confirming it was his serious manager he decisively answered the call with a smile.
'' Hello Nuna!'' he said with a slightly tired voice.
'' Hello Dae, how are you feeling?'' a serious voice came from the other side, but the concern could be felt by the tone.
'' Well yes....''
They went on to a little chat before they went on to the serious matters. For the way he treats her, after constant drives from home to school which Sangmi would take, they had gotten close to each other, and the way he spoke to her came by in one of these conversations and they settled with a more familiar, speech. Although Sangmi herself just stayed with calling him by his name, which Daeho didn't mind in the slightest.
'' So Nuna tell me what is wrong for you to call me this late,'' Daeho said while he was anticipating good news from his agent.
'' Ahah I actually called you because I couldn't wait to tell you about this,'' Sangmi spoke with excitement obvious to the way she spoke, which was a rare occasion for her.
Something that Daeho came to realize is that Sangmi actually chooses to take him to school in the morning not only for bonding with him but to give him advice on the many subjects of the showbiz world. Although she didn't like to touch the subject of her previous assigned group, she would use it as a reference from time to time. As a way to educate him on the way to behave in many situations.
Daeho had developed a slight tiny repulsion towards the individuals of her previous group. But before his train of thought went astray he decided to focus again on the excited voice of the agent who continued.
'' We had a meeting about how to act after the success that was the mv, and as the center, and by the beautiful performance shown, you have been asked for many shows and collaborations. You are up there when it comes to dancing. So the chairwoman decided to ride the wave, and give you and the rest of screen time. And we chose a couple of shows to work with. So next week, prepare yourself because you will be meeting, Allan and Jun.''
Once Daeho heard her, his eyes brightened up and his tired body found newfound energy. ''Really? You are not lying, right?''
Sangmi who was on the other side of the phone, couldn't help but smile and shake her head helplessly. It was obvious Daeho had found a sweet spot to these friends he had made in the company. And although he kept up working there could be seen slight lonely vibe coming from Daeho. Although it wasn't that noticeable it was there and Sangmi obviously had realized this and suggested the show to be the first for him to go.
Of the many offers they had as guests or to perform, she looked for the ones that would benefit Daeho both in popularity and emotionally. She believed a lot in Daeho, and she wanted him well, she wanted this junior who was under her vision, to shine and be happy. Just worrying about enjoying himself on stage. Everything else she wanted to task herself to help. That is why she wanted to build a solid relationship with him, she hoped Daeho with her help wouldn't turn rotten like the previous group she had given her all to.
Once the news was delivered and a little after the chat, the call came to an end, and the youth was jubilant he forgot about his studies and just went to lift his kitten, who was lazily laying looking at him or was because Daeho began hugging and kissing the poor thing.
Meow~ faced with the happiness of her owner Nisha didn't even struggle and decided to accept the affection happily too.
