About two decades ago, the world got in a frenzy as we were told of the imminent doom that would lead to destruction of everything on this planet. Like every piece of news thrown out there, it led to distribution of people into groups; the believers, the neutral party, and the non-believers.
The believers, otherwise known as cult followers, sheep, panic-stricken ones, and bunker hunkers, bought items in bulk while crossing out the days in their calendars. The bunkers business startup did well during this period. Though the believers were trying to find ways to survive through this imminent destruction of earth and all on it, they were scrutinized by the media and other groups. It was concluded that their panic-stricken behavior was leading to an unhealthy behavioural pattern in their society. As they vocalized about the imminent destruction of our dear planet, the people in the neutral and non- believers' parties were shifting their nervous feet towards the believers' party.
But the true fuel behind this shift would be the inclusion of religious people as well as the backing from the translation of the Mayan calendar that stopped at 2012A.D. People started to debate over the lack of evidence or the presence of concrete evidence hinting at the imminent destruction of earth. As the non- believers and believers went on to speak on various medias stating their opinions over the issue of the Mayan calendar stopping at 2012A.D., the neutral party watched their actions while going about their way.
As 2012 crept upon us, a piece of news brought frenzy all over the world. 'The translation of the Mayan calendar was wrong.' The ones, who were adamant over the fact that the world ending on 2012, silently fell back into the shadows from which they had sprung while the ones, who were going head to head with them, could take a breather at last. The neutral party looked at the news and went about their ways again.
Even a movie was released based on this whole imminent destruction of world fiasco, themes of 'conspiracy of the world leaders to hide the end of world from the public', 'earthquakes that destroy cities', 'waves of tsunami that drown cities', 'family love', and 'sacrifice' created a worthwhile movie. All the people divided during that fiasco, came together and watched the end of earth along with its rebirth. The world went about on its way even when it was stated that the Mayan calendar was behind by 8years. All had laughed at its statement.

"Oh my, this must mean that the world is going to go boom boom in about 8yrs from now, which is in 2020. Like global warming won't take us down by then. Get your head out of that 'Mayan calendar and world ending' shit and focus on the real-world problems. Okay." ||
If only we had taken it seriously back then, we could have stopped it earlier. Or maybe we couldn't have been able to in time. Nobody could predict this. All of this.
The Mayans were right. 2020 marked the beginning of end. The end of the world.
