The gates of Gui loomed ahead, and under the bright, glaring sun, the skulls and bones littering their path looked faded, near crumbling to dust as they moved past the fields of death with a heavy heart.
XiangWei didn't look convinced of the place they were to stay and turn into a new loves nest for him and Yang Chen, but he trusted ZhiYi enough to not voice his complaints. He had expected a serene farmland, maybe a small town with lots of crops, a dainty riverside where they could take leisure walks while enjoying the sunset. But who was he to complain? He hadn't planned for Yang Chen to be gutted either or be attacked by wolf people. He would listen to ZhiYi if it meant Yang Chen would breathe for another day.
