The Cloud bridge of Yintian was a small, stone bridge that crossed the river of Yintian. Not a big river by any means, but it was littered with jagged rocks and stones. If one slipped in, there was no way out as death was instantaneous.
Yintian was divided into two sides of a city. In the west, lived the poorer folk, who farmed the lands and made with what they got. On the east side of the river, there lived the landowners and merchants, much richer folk in comparison.
It so happened that on the poorer side of the city, they bore more girls while on the wealthier side; they had more boys. So, it went that girls were given to marriage, and to marry to the groom's home, they had to cross the Cloud bridge by foot as no carriage nor horse fit through.
Many of the brides, angry and saddened of the marriage forced upon them, committed suicide on the Cloud bridge, tossing themselves to the river.
