It felt like another day wasted and another day closer to the promised departure from Wupei. The moon was nearly full as its faint light poured into the inn room, casting obscured shadows across the walls.
"Why aren't you sleeping?" ZhiYi mumbled as he teetered between sleep and awake.
MingYu was wide awake, and although ZhiYi's warm hold and soothing heartbeat usually lulled him to a pleasant sleep, this time, it worked more like a distraction. He was supposed to be gathering information, helping people!
But he had done nothing remotely useful this entire day. Even in such a simple task as following Yang Chen, he had failed. It was discouraging, and with the idle way everybody else seemed to act, MingYu couldn't help but feel useless.
