Irene returned home tired but happy she was finally back home. Sean wasn't yet back so she took a shower and prepared dinner.
"Am home " Sean voice shouted.
He walked to the kitchen kissing Irene.
"How was your day spent with Rose?" he asked.
"Wonderful, we even came up with names for the babies " She laughed.
Sean had a shower and returned to the kitchen.
"My day with Arthur was fun at all. He spent the whole day teasing me about how I fainted " Sean reported.
"You did do it," Irene said.
Sean got out the plates as Irene served their dinner.
"I was surprised by the announcement"
They sat down and started eating. Sean had refused to return to his mansion after Alex left. He had decided to stay with her so he couldn't miss her.
The doorbell rang as they cleaned their table after dinner.
"Who is it? " Sean walked to the door.
But his face froze after he saw who it was.
"What are you doing, mother?" he frowned.
His mother walked past him and let herself in.
Irene walked into the living room only to see Sean's mother on her couch seat.
"Welcome mother," she said
Sean closed the door and moved next to Irene.
"I have to talk to the two of you," she said.
"About what?" Sean asked.
Irene walked back to the kitchen and got her a glass of water. Putting it on the table she sat next to Sean.
"You should consider your future son this relationship isn't going any way you both know it, " She said.
"Mother please " Sean let out.
"Let her talk " Irene stopped him.
His mother continued, " It's time you think about me and your father. I want to make sure you have a bright future with someone who deserves both you and our family "
"I don't care if she doesn't deserve you but she is enough for me," Sean told his mother.
"What exactly does she have that is special. I don't see it and you should too or you're going to destroy yourself " his mother explained.
Irene had fallen silent as she listened to Sean's mother. But finally spoke out.
"What do you exactly want me to do. I have tried my best. Even gave each of your friends private lessons and sent you gifts but nothing has worked. Your son loves me and that won't change, you should just try your best to understand us both "
"I can't and won't understand cause I refuse to. You both are impossible even if you stick up to my friends or send all those cheap gifts to me. I will never accept you " Sean's mother exclaimed
"Mother please stop " Sean shouted.
His mother stared at her son then looked at Irene.
"Your nothing but a poisonous slut turning my husband and child against me. I will never allow such a wicked being into my family " She cried out.
Irene couldn't control her tears as she heard the painful words. She got up grabbing Sean's mother by the arm, dragging her towards the door.
"I won't allow you to say to me such words in my own house " her tears stained down her face.
" Your son loves me and I can't change that. If you can't accept that then am sorry " Irene slammed the door in her face.
She turned around, Sean was standing up looking at her with a surprised look on his face.
"Am..starting to hate her " she cried.
Sean rushed to her side. She felt his arms hold her, hiding her face in his chest.
"Am sorry love " he whispered as he tried consoling her.
His mother was crazy and viscous that she didn't care about others. He loved Irene but his mother seemed to be still against them.
Irene knew he loved her but even when his father had given them his blessing. His crazy mother hated her so much.
Irene had wondered why but never got an answer. She had tried her best to please her but she never got any close to it.
Irene knew it wasn't Sean's fault but she still found herself hating him a little for having such a mother.
She looked up at his face. Her beautiful eyes were still filled with tears.
"I love you no matter what she says " She cried.
He could see the pain in her eyes as she said those words.
He smiled, " I love you too " he kissed her lips.
That night Sean didn't let go of Irene after she fell asleep.
"You look more of a baby panda than a human " Sean teased her the next morning.
Her eyes had swollen up after crying too much last night. She had to leave for work with black sunglasses to hide them
He called his father after he got to work and told him about what his mother had done.
"She told me she had gone to see her friends ". his father said.
" That's a big lie. She made my girlfriend cry the whole night " Sean reported.
"Son I don't know what to do about her she is still your mother "
Sean sighed.
"Dad I know that but Irene keeps getting hurt and mom doesn't seem to want to back out any time "
"Whenever I try to talk to her I get blocked out " his father explained.
Sean tried to come up with a solution with his father but nothing came up.
He later hung up after his father decided to go see Irene.
"Thanks, Dad," Sean said and hung up.
He hurried to his meeting after that. Trusting his father to do the right thing.
He didn't want to tell Arthur about his problems since Arthur had a lot on his plate. Rose's pregnancy was enough for him, he didn't want to burden them with his problems.
