Chapter 11 - Paintball pt 2 (Reese POV)

Reese veered left to try and pull Olivia away from her companion. Amiya gave a gentle smile as she turned in the opposite direction. It was her job to get rid of Amy and reveal Trix's hiding spot. Reese shot a few lousy shots in Olivia's direction to try and p!ss her off, and Olivia retaliated, one paintball gliding dangerously close to her ear before splattering on a tree ahead.

"That all you got?" Reese yelled, dodging more shots and sliding behind a nearby brick wall. She heard a few shots from where Amiya had been heading and an angered yell from Amy. She kept running, trying to keep Olivia a good twenty to thirty feet back, and heard a few more shots. She recognized the sound of Trix's personal gun and ran in that direction. As she had guessed, Amiya and Amy were in a large dip surrounded by shrubbery, each with paint splattered on their gear. Reese assumed that Trix was taking cover in the bushes overlooking the dip and was proved correct when a spray of paintballs flew at her. The hastily shot ammo landed at her feet and on a few trees behind her. Olivia was gaining ground, and Reese launched herself over the shortest part of the small ravine. Trix made an attempt to flee, but Reese cut her off and pelted her with orange paint.

"D@mn it." She said, barely audible as Reese kept a steady pace away from Olivia. She led her to a small area, bare of any obstacles, and in range of Florence.

"Are you done running?" Olivia panted slightly and pointed her barrel at Reese's forehead.

"I guess so." She ducked Olivia's shot. Reese slid on the loose dirt and tried to angle her gun at Olivia. She pulled the trigger and dodged another paintball. She clicked it again, and Olivia smirked.

"Out?" Reese moved to try and get out of the way of Olivia's shot, "I've been waiting a long time for this." She chuckled, "To finally prove Charlie right, I mean. Looks like your reign as the 'Silent Ghost' is over. Hmm, I wonder what I'll be called, surely something better than that. Oh well, doesn't matter." She walked over to Reese and aimed at her chest, "Maybe it'll break your heart into a few more pieces." She said as she pulled the trigger. Reese cringed for a moment as the pain spread throughout her chest. She couldn't remember what it had felt like, it'd been so long. She did remember who had dealt the last one though, Charlie. Maybe she'd been right regarding what she'd said to her. It couldn't be, could it? Reese looked up at Olivia to see her satisfaction turn into horror. Olivia rubbed her gloved hand against her lower back and held a finger up to her face. There was an orange tinge to it, similar to that of Reese's paint, "Who the he11 shot me?!?"

"So, I did hit her," came a soft voice from nearby, "I thought I had missed from that distance." Florence breathed heavily, she clearly had sprinted all the way there.

"How is that even possible?!?" Yelled Olivia, shocked, "I didn't even hear your shot!"

"I just waited for the exact time you shot Reese. It took a second longer to get there because of how far I was, but I managed to mask the sound enough not to tip you off." Florence dusted herself off and pulled a twig out of her shoe.

"But you're a first year! How the he11 did you even- you know what, screw it, I'm outta here!" She marched away angrily, "D@mmit Charlie! I almost had her!" She yelled. Reese flinched before grabbing her gun and following Olivia, Florence close behind.
