Once all the girls were congregated inside the dorm, Reese spoke, "So, as you may or may not have heard, Florence Zane,"-she gestured towards Florence-"The girl who got off the bus last, managed to make it here first." Several audible gasps were heard from girls who were not aware of this, "She took it upon herself to, instead of wait in that excessively long line, follow me directly to the dorm."
"Hey, there's no way that's allowed!" Came the voice of a girl by the name, Hannah Lu, "You never said we could do that, if we had known we would have..." Her voice trailed off as Reese approached her sternly.
"So, just because I didn't say anything, means it's not allowed? In war, would an enemy hesitate to follow you back to your base camp?" Hannah looked down at the ground, "Would they?"
"No ma'am." Hannah responded in defeat.
"Glad we understand each other." She looked away from Hannah and continued to speak to the rest of the girls, "In a bit, we're going to head over to the dining hall. You can sit anywhere on the tables marked for first years. For now, get unpacked and put your uniforms on." She looked over at an already unpacked, and changed Florence and left the room. She marched herself over to her own dorm and sat down on her bed. She overheard the other dorm captains talking at a small table, and joined them.
"Did you hear? Someone actually followed Reese." One of the girls said, not aware of her presence.
"Yeah, she surprised me a bit."
The girl jumped in surprise before asking, "So what was she like? Was it just dumb luck or did she think it through like you did?"
The other girls at the table sat more attentively to listen, "She's obviously a crafty one, I bet she would've been quite popular if the other girls didn't hate her guts at this point."
"Well, on the bright side, we warmed up to you." One of the girls piped cheerfully before asking, "So was she pretty or what?"
Reese blushed, "I mean pretty?" She tried to recall Florence's facial features. She had brown hair that draped over one side of her face, but from what she could see, she was fairly attractive. She had bright green eyes, and a soft smile that had put Reese at ease, her lightly tanned skin shone against the dark green uniform, "Yeah, she was."
"Oooh, what's her name? I might make her my lackey." Responded the girl mischievously.
"Pfft- Your lackey with benefits." Another dorm captain giggled, "And, chances are someone else will call dibs first."
"Her name's Florence Zane." Said Reese, not really caring about what they had to say about lackeys. She remembered the system that was in place among third and first years. Third years were entitled to one first year, or lackey. This was supposed to be beneficial to the first years, having someone mentor them, but most, if not all third years turned it into something else. Although it heightened the bond between them, usually the third years did it to fool around with someone. Reese knew this from experience, from what happened to her, two years ago.
