"So you like animals?"
He said slurping up his noodles. Light looked thoroughly disgusted. And so he paused wiped his mouth and reatarted.
"You're vegan"
Taking a breath she tried to make eye contact.
"Being vegan has nothing to do with liking animals. Though yes I like animals"
He stirred what was left in his bowl.
"So why vegan?"
"I had to"
"Huh?"
He said intelligently. A smile crossed her face.
"The college I went to was vegetarian. I could go out and buy meat but I was broke. So I stopped eating it"
He gave a small hum as he drank some water.
"Vegetarian not vegan"
She nodded,
"But I didn't really drink milk and eggs weren't a necessity. Cutting milk based products and stuff like that was easy."
"But not honey"
Light gave a sheepish smile.
"I like my tea with honey"
He dropped the conversation getting a good look at her. She looked young. Tanned skin. Glasses. Not bad just young. Without a doubt he was older. But he didn't know by how much in fact he didn't know anything about her. They hadn't really had conversation IN FACT hadn't he just learned her name?! It was very unlike him to do any of this.
"So do you dislike people who eat meat?"
She blinked,
"I'm vegan because I chose to not based on any emotional connection. So other people eating meat doesn't bother me. My family still eats meat"
He nodded and they fell into silence before a thought popped into his head.
"If I pay for your meal you won't think I want sex right?"
He had timed it wrong since she had been drinking water at the moment and the question made her choke spilling the water on her and the table.
"I'm... sorry ….I"
He grabbed a napkin and started wiping the table. She was sensitive, Duly noted.
"It's fine that was my fault"
Her face was red and she wasn't meeting his eyes.
"There's a bathroom back there why don't you wipe yourself off?"
She followed where he pointed and nodding got up and went in that direction.
When she finally disappeared it seemed Yuusuke had found his opening,
"Should I even ask what you said?"
"I'd rather you didn't. I'm regretting it as well"
Yuusuke smiled as he sat down,
"Getting back into the game."
"Aren't you working?"
"She's cute a bit young if you ask me. She's legal right?"
Haru frowned as Yuusuke raised his hands in innocence.
"She mentioned college. She's legal…...I'm pretty sure"
"Wait you don't know how old she is?"
"....."
"Well what about her last name? I can look her up and tell ya"
"..."
Yuusuke lost all emotion as he stared at his long term friend.
".....you don't know anything do you?"
"I know she's vegan"
"Good grief! What are you thinking?"
Haru sighed. What was he thinking? nothing really. Just that he thought it would be interesting. Speaking of…..
"She's been gone a while….."
Yuusuke stood and walked down the corridor where the bathroom was located and out of sight. Haru waited patiently and soon enough Yuusuke came walking back with a devious smile on his face that didn't bode well.
"She's gone"
