"Then I won't stand in ceremony and gladly take it" Calter was straightforward on his actions and immediately took the Sun Dew. It may not have much effect on Magic Warriors and above but for Magic Apprentices this is a supreme treasure! A true treasure is something that one can use. Sure, there are higher levels of Sun Dew but those are not something that a weak Magic Apprentice can use
However, Calter's next action stupefied the City Lord. "Take this, it will help you" Calter directly gave the Sun Dew to Kence without even batting an eye. The City Lord can't believe how much importance Calter gave to Kence. He thought that maybe the youth doesn't know what kind of treasure it was
"Young man, do you know what a Sun Dew is?" The City Lord can't help but ask. Even he can't have as many Sun Dews as he wants, this showed how rare it was
"Rest assured City Lord, even without the Sun Dew I can easily break through and become a Magic Warrior" What a joke it will be if a former Rank 3 Mage can't even become a Magic Warrior. Sure, it needs a lot of luck and hard work to get back to Rank 3 but Rank 1 was extremely was
Since Calter said it then the City Lord won't mind. With a bit of talent one can become a Magic Warrior, he believed that Calter can easily attain than rank. Only if he wants to become a Rank 2 or even 3 Mage would he have a hard time
"Then that's fine, treat that as me thanking you for your help" he may have paid Calter with favors and money but if he died all of his wealth won't matter at all. He's already dead, he doesn't need any of those treasures. A favor of life was not something one can easily pay back just by giving some treasures
"Big Brother is the Sun Dew that precious? I can't take something as valuable as this. It's better if you use it" from their interactions Kence deduced that the Sun Dew might be extremely precious, these kinds of things should be use by his master. Aside from that, this treasure came from the City Lord, even if he was ignorant to many things a City Lord is like a God! Anything he can give was bound to be really expensive
"Just take it or I'll be angry" Kence opened his mouth wanting to say something but he can't. He doesn't want to accept the Sun Dew but he also won't dare anger his master. He was put in a troubled position. "Hahaha since he gave it you then just accept it. Don't worry about it" the City Lord said
Even though he was unwilling, Kence still nodded his head and took the Sun Dew. Since even the City Lord said it then he can only obey
"City Lord, I'm leaving 'my Kence' here for the day. I'll be back at night after some adventure. I hope you can take good care of him" since the City Lord already took action for his previous mistake Calter naturally still need to give him some face. After all, he is still too weak. Any random spell the City Lord have can easily kill him. But of course, he can't do that due to the contract
"Don't worry, he is my student now. I'll naturally treat him well. But where are you going?" The City Lord asked in curiosity
"Thousand Beasts Forest" Calter answered. The City Lord narrowed his eyes hearing it. Thousand Beast Forest was quite famous in the Soaring Magic City, it was one of the Magic Beasts forest outside the City
Just like its name there were thousands of magical beasts' species there. For normal people it wasn't that too dangerous nor safe. The chances of meeting high levelled beast in the outskirts was lower than other dangerous places. Maybe one or two high levelled beasts will come to the low levelled areas occasionally but that is rare. For example, the first few kilometers only have Low levelled Magic Beast composing of creatures that has power around level 1 to 3 Magic Apprentice with occasional level 4 and there were almost no Level 5 ones
But past the low-level area is the mid-level area. There, most the beasts are at Level 4 to 6 with rare level 7 and low chance of meeting a Level 8 one. Past that and you will encounter more level 7 to 9 Beasts. Most people only go there as deeper than that then you will encounter Magic Warriors and above
All in all, the danger level is low if you don't go too deep. However, the danger there was the many Magic Beasts in a certain area. Groups of 3 were the most common there but there are groups having bigger numbers
One must know that mediocre two or three magicians was needed to take down one beast at their level. If you are one level higher than your target then it would be easier. That's why, higher level magicians mostly hunt the lower level creatures there as their numbers are too great. Hence, the name Thousand Beast Forest
"Then please train there carefully. If you want, I can arrange guards to escort and protect you there" the City Lord offered. It was common for Magicians to train in Magical Beasts infested forest or other places. One must experience a blood bath if they want to achieve something. Geniuses might be able to fight and kill Magic Beasts at their level but that is hard. The genes of these beasts are higher than humans giving them more strength, this made humans to be in disadvantage. Fortunately, humans also use some tools like Magic Wands that can amplify one's magic for at least 10%
Calter shook his head, he has ten times more mana and it's troublesome if he was seen easily massacring magic beasts at his level thanks to the insane amount of mana he has. "That's not necessary, I'll just need to borrow a horse for the travel"
Calter's main goal was to train his body and make some money. He doesn't want to waste time in going there. If he can borrow a fast horse then it will make things easier
The City Lord nodded his head, true geniuses are fearless and prideful. They want to experience things personally. "I'll arrange for someone to give you a Knight Level Cloud Stepping Horse. You can give it back whenever you want"
Even the Sternix Clan only has Warrior Level ones. After all the patriarch was the only known Magic Knight of the Clan. His wealth was mostly needed to continue the Clan's cooperation and he can't have the luxury of buying a Knight level Horse
"Thank you, City Lord" Calter said and bowed. He really has great respect to Otto that is so different than the other City Lords
"Big Brother, do you really need to go there?" Kence said in worry. He didn't dare talk when the two was talking and only found the chance now. Thousand Beasts Forest was famous and even Kence knew of it. This made him worry for his master. For him, Calter should have accepted having guards to keep him safe
Calter smiled at Kence's concern. "Don't worry about me, just take things easy and learn whatever you want while I'm gone" Calter kissed Kence'a forehead which made the latter to blush in shame as the City Lord was still with them. "I'll take my leave now. Remember to not push yourself too hard okay?" Kence nodded his head shyly and bowed at the City Lord
"I'll excuse myself" the City lord nodded his head and Calter went out leaving a Kence filled worry. As long as Calter exited the room Kence started thinking of something. He looked at the City Lord, unsure if he should say the things on his mind. The City Lord, Otto smiled at Kence. "Speak, don't be afraid"
Kence steeled himself and kneeled down in front of the City Lord to beg. "City Lord, please arrange some guards for my master. I don't want anything bad to happen to him" Kence then bowed down with his forehead touching the ground
The old man was once again given a shock. He saw Calter favoring Kence a lot but he didn't know that Kence's concern for his master was this huge. He even begged this much just to protect his master. The City Lord waved his hand and a force lifted Kence's body
"Young man, rest assured. I'll arrange for people to protect him. You don't need to beg me" Otto really appreciated these two. Their concern for each other was as high as the heavens
Kence heaved a sigh of relief. "Thank you, City Lord" Kence bowed respectfully
Otto then used a sound transmission stone to give out orders. With the multitudes of Magic Warriors and Knights underlings he has, having someone to protect Calter secretly was easy
After taking care of the matters, Otto looked at Kence warmly. "Do you want to start your magic training now?" Kence nodded his head furiously, very eager to start training himself now
"Then let's start. Activate all the spells you can use, I'll have a better grasp of your current understanding in Magic" with his level, Otto can easily determine the best path of training for Kence
"Yes, City Lord" Kence then started demonstrating all the magic spells he knew. It wasn't much though, he only learned magic for a short period of time. Just like other magicians, he just learned one or two spells of his rank as he can learn stronger spells if he broke through in ranks. Even then, he still has some foundation as Calter was there to teach him even though his master was not an Ice Magician.
Kence only learned two level 1 and one level 2 Spells. The strongest was the Ice Shot. In City Lord's eyes this was a below average performance but a deal is a deal. He would still guide Kence
"Read this manual first, for the whole month I'll guide you as long as you are here and answer your questions. After a month you need to study on your own and try to answer your questions on your own. But of course, I'll still guide you and answer all of your question. However, you won't achieve much if you just always ask questions. Talented magicians will try to learn as much as they can on their own and only ask the questions they can't answer on their own to their teacher. Treat this whole month as your foundation and ask everything you want"
It will take a month for the City Lord to fully recover, in that time it was better not to activate any magic spells for faster recovery. He can afford to become idle for this whole month and teach Kence. However, after that just like other Rank 3 Mages he wants to improve his power and wish to someday reach the rank beyond that. It was all Rank 3 Mages' dream in the Enchanted Star Realm
Kence took the manual and started studying it. As Calter was not an Ice Magician just the manual of basic Ice Magic already surpassed Calter's teaching. The manual has the basics if magic itself along with Ice Magic knowledge. The mages in the realm decided that it was better for the mages to study magic itself along with the element they focused on so that the two knowledge will fuse easier
Kence was in deep thought as he comprehended the manual. All of his focus was on it as he felt a whole new world was opened in front of him. He can't help but to feel that magic is really wonderful and amazing. Unknowingly, the desire to pursue the highest kind of magic started bubbling inside him. It's not surprising though as the more you learned about magic the more one will want to learn about it. This was a common occurrence, in fact if you don't want to learn the wonders of magic it would be much harder for you to become a powerful mage
