The blonde was on the phone, sitting comfortably on a sofa when I walked into the room with my business partner trailing behind. She looked up at us, scrutinising every movement, then whispered into the phone for a while more before hanging up.
"You called war on Saverio Alcunze?"
Did the entire underworld know?
I crossed my legs, disguising the wince of soreness between them by smoothing a hand over my blue handkerchief skirt. "A necessary measure."
"I hope you both know what you're doing." She looked between us. "That man is slimy. You don't know how many allies he has."
"Maybe not, but we know enough."
Andreya turned her eyes on Marco, who was staring at her like she was the most interesting thing he'd seen in ten years. She quirked an eyebrow, crossing both arms over her chest. "And you? You're ready for this?"
He shrugged, picking lint off his trousers. "I'm willing to take the gamble."
