Chapter 2 - TRAVIS AND THE GANG 1

Travis put down the bouquet of flowers that he brought to his mother's tomb then walked towards another grave and placed another bouquet.

"This is unusual. So many people visited this grave today." the caretaker commented as he walked away from the tomb after cleaning it.

Travis didn't hear his comment and just let the man go on his way. "Auntie, I'm here. I'm sorry I have to let you down. I'm still not able to find your daughter." He touched the epitaph where the name of a woman was engraved. Elizabeth Summer was written on it in beautiful calligraphy.

"I promise I'll find her, Auntie. No matter what." he made a deep bow to the tombstone before going back to her mother's tomb.

It's been nine years since his mother died. A year after her best friend's death, she committed suicide due to depression and guilt. It was said that her best friend's death, Elizabeth Summer, was a mistake. The target was actually his mother but that unfortunate night, Elizabeth borrowed her car to pick up her child. Thus, the crime happened leaving a little girl alone and leading his mother to death.

Travis never gave up on the case. Both his mother and Elizabeth deserve justice. All these years, he had asked his men to investigate the matter and to locate the girl which his mother entrusted to him, but it was fruitless.

"Mom, I'm here once again. I am still not able to find her. Her relatives said that she didn't stay with them. I asked around but there was no news at all. Am I that incapable? I felt so useless. Finding her should've been easy but it's been years without any progress." Travis mumbled helplessly in front of his mother's tomb. He covered his face with both hands in frustration.

He spoke to his mom mentally. He just stood there doing nothing in an imposing manner which made people avoid him.

He spent almost an hour at the cemetery before leaving the place with a guilty face. Every time he visited the cemetery, he would go back in low spirit, guilt was eating his pride away.

Savannah saw Travis walking towards her with a dark face. Hawk was following him in a relaxed manner, making her roll her eyes at them. She just had a little fight earlier and she didn't want to see someone with a bad mood.

"What's wrong boss? Bad mood? I have a piece of good news though." she opened the door on the copilot seat after Travis seated himself in the backseat. Following, Hawk took his position as the driver and drove the car for them.

"Say it." Travis leaned on the headrest and closed his eyes to calm his nerves but he was still in alert mode in case something would happen.

Savannah turned her body to the side facing Hawk with a laptop sitting on her lap. She opened some documents sent by her friend from military affairs.

"I asked someone to help us locate Ms. Summer's daughter. She had collated all the women from ages 21-23 who lost their parents with the same name as her daughter. My friend included those that got married, too. We have less than a hundred prospects so it would be easier for us this time." Savannah reported before she handed him her laptop.

He opened his eyes and reached for it to see the document himself. His face didn't change or showed any expression but deep inside he was truly happy.

Earlier he was sulking because he didn't know where to find her, but now the news was sent directly to him.

"Thanks, Sav. We'll ask some PI to check on these ladies." Travis returned the laptop to his secretary.

Savannah acted as the secretary in his company but she was actually someone from the military together with Hawk and his other two subordinates.

They were working on some S-class syndicate cases and working under him was part of their cover.

"Heh! I'm good at this. Good thing we found you or you would have to spend more years to locate her." Savannah said proudly which was true.

Four years ago, they were on a mission to raid a mansion but they were ambushed before they even get there. Hawk, Savannah, Valkyrie, and Brown narrowly escaped their demise. Savannah and Valkyrie were heavily wounded, carried on the back of their comrades.

They walked and ran to different alleys so that they can escape from the people coming at them. An opened window came into view from a two-story house.

It was considered trespassing but nobody cared at that time. All they wanted to do was to escape from the death's grip. Hawk climbed the tree and jumped over the fence to get inside the house premises. He opened the gate slightly and allowed everyone to get inside.

They sat on the ground, breathing heavily from all the running. Hawk tore a piece of his shirt and tied it around Savannah's thigh to stop the bleeding from the bullet wound. Brown was attending to Valkyrie.

"Don't you dare die on me, Val! I'll stamp you to death making you a double dead meat if you die!" Brown was cursing him but he was busy tying some cloth on his wounds, too.

"I have first a first aid kit here." a masculine voice resounded in their ears.

Everyone stiffened for a moment but Hawk took action immediately and pointed a gun on the young man's head.

"Just to let you know, even if you're soldiers, you're trespassing on my property and pointing a gun at me. These are enough reasons to strip you of your badge and be persecuted through military procedures." The man spoke with a relaxed tone while tossing the medical box toward them.

He did not wait for them to respond to him and immediately walked to a mini garden where multiple chairs were situated.

"You might as well get inside if you don't want your comrades to get infected." He was acting nonchalant towards their situation but he was helping them.

"We apologize for the sudden intrusion. We'll head out immediately after tending to their wounds." Brown was a doctor so he was versed in medical and other stuff to aid his friends.

"My name is Travis. And it's not a problem with me but look at your woman. She's pale. Are you sure she can make it back to your base? I can - ssh!" Travis halted whatever he wanted to say when he caught some people walking in the direction of his house using the CCTV cameras.
