Chereads / The Blight / Chapter 2 - So it begins

Chapter 2 - So it begins

This is INSANE, my family is being ripped apart and people in the streets are going insane and this is just madness and it was scary but their was this one man who approached my sister today. He wasn't okay he looked like he went through hell trying to get to where he was and then all of the dripping, oozing, pussing, lumps on his face that were all so swollen, I felt so bad I wish I could've helped him but my sister was holding his hand and saying something but I couldn't correctly hear her. She was saying something along the lines of  "Count your stars and say your prayers, he is here to help purge us and save us from this plane of existence." But this man he was blubbering, crying, distressed mess. But I grabbed my 14 year old sister Bethany's hand and ran inside.

All I heard when I was running from what I just witnessed was him screaming and then… a small crackling sound and the terrible shrieking of this man and then.. Silence. I wanted to turn back so bad but I knew if I did I would instantly regret it and yet I still did and it was a gut wrenching site that would make a grown man cry.

We live in a small unassuming town called "Interlochen" here in Michigan, It is Spring and school was still going. I live with my sister and mother and her 2nd husband. I am 16 and have a pretty good life but it's not like I was the cool kid at school or anything of that sort but I wasn't unpopular either and I was the cheer captain for the school's sports team and I enjoyed it. But my mother and sister stayed at home for most of the day. Since my sister was what the doctors say "special" and my mom had to stay home and keep an eye on her sometimes. But that meant she couldn't go to work so that meant my stepdad had to go to work for us (and if you didn't know my stepdad is a real jerk). He is rude to my mom and is super pissed that my sister is "special" and thinks she should be given away so someone else can do the work instead of my mom. But the sad thing is if my mom leaves she will have to get a job and move out and she won't be able to keep an eye on my sister and it's a bad situation with an even worse outcome. (One day later) I was sitting in class on just a normal unassuming day with my friends chatting in the back of the class while I try to jump into a conversation or two but as my friends were getting into a heated discussion on whether the government really cares about us or if we are just their guinea pigs. This is when we had an announcement come over the speaker "Due to a miscommunication with a few teachers, some of the classes are being merged and that certain teachers will get a different daily lesson and have an email sent to them from the school faculty. Thank you for your understanding and have a good day." That is when the rumors started.
