Chapter 3 - Forever

The thoughts ran through Lizzie's head. I'm a mom, the first three months is going to be the hardest. What new surprises awaits for me? I need to come up with a name. I am good with boys names, of course naming it after Red. I guess we will need a nickname, if we name him the third. I don't know a girl's name. it has to be something strong, I don't like my name.

After leaving the doctor's office. Liz returns home, and pulls out the family tree. Not having many girls born to the family, it is a bit difficult to pick a name. She did have a few names she likes; Elle, Georgia, Matilda, Elizabeth, and Rose. Lizzy thought, I have time and we don't know what it is yet. That is when her thoughts went to mom. I have to tell her. She pulled the picture of a bean shaped. The black, white, and gray photo, was proof. She put grandma and grandpa on the frame and wrapped it in tissue paper.

Liz got into her car, backed out of the carport. She drove through the gate and took the roads she grew up on. She turned next to the plant, on the right there was a golf course. The drive is not long but this day it felt like forever. She seen the gas station on the left. There she knew the Y was coming, and she would follow the left fork. The road was still the same, all the bumps and the location of the police. The one corner they love to sit and catch speeders. The samll appliance shop makes for perfect hiding. The road went up and down a few hills,at the top of the last was an open field. The sign above the fields said "Funny farm". That is where Liz could look down the valley and see if mom was home. This location is the best area for sunsets. Liz peered down and seen the golden car. Liz started to slow down cause the turn was only a few feet ahead in the middle of the S. The left turn was down a steep hill but the first road to the left was home.

Liz entered threw the garage and opened the white door to the left. The door opened to the kitchen and dining room. The living room was straight ahead. Elizabeth was sitting on the green couch watching her show. Elizabeth said "Liz". "Hi mom,I have something for you" Lizzy said as she handed the gift to her. Elizabeth gave a look of curiosity and opened it. Elizabeth's eyes opened wide and tears came to her eyes. Elizabeth said " I am a grandma of a human and not a felines." Liz smiled and responded, "I thought you liked the grand cat, laughing a little. However,

you are now a real grandma, if that's what you want to be called."

Elizabeth got up and placed the pitcher on the wall.

Then they both heard a truck door and they both turned to the door. Mike walked in the door and see his only daughter. "Daddy!" Liz shouted and before he could say anything, " you are a grandpa. " Mike said " big daddy, grandpa makes me sound old."

Elizabeth got up and started making eggplant parmesan. This is Lizzy's favorite. The process of preparing and the frying the veggies. Then placing them into a dish to cook covered with marinara sauce and cheese. They gathered around a round wooden table, Elizabeth's father made her. Liz told them about the names and asked if they had any suggestions. Elizabeth and Mike said, " whatever you name it is fine, as long as it is healthy."

After dinner Liz sat and talked to her mom. Dad had went down to the meeting. That was code for drinking at the river. Liz felt odd but figured her body was adjusting. Elizabeth asked if Liz could drop her off with Mike. "Of course" , Lizzy said. The both got into Lizz's car and instead of going towards the hill, they went left. The place where the pavement ends and turns into a red dirt road. This road was only big enough for one car. There are steep ditches on both sides and many curves that snake through the woods. There are three hills. When you get to the top of one, the eyes could see a hilly view with variety shades of green. Round one curve, there is a road that takes you to an old grave site for the ghost town. Past this point you drive over rails and round one more curve. The left opens up to a brown and white view. This is where Liz grew up. She can not count the amount of times she swam in the 40 degree water to the Sandbar. There was dad and few of his friends. Liz stepped out and walked to the water edge. Night was falling and you could see little flashing lights everywhere. Dusk, time for lighting bugs and Bata. Liz wish she could go back to her younger years, and tell her self everything. How Red hurt her many times.

Red was always on the computer. Liz found many emails from him to other women. She had no idea where any were from. However, she had hoped that was in the past. Red kept his phone locked and the computer. This did worry Liz,but she thought he would keep his word. Red had not changed, he gotten better at hiding the truth.

Liz came home and got ready for bed, she did have two jobs. Forty hours and twenty hours that always hit over thirty hours. She was physically exhausted and sleep came fast.

Liz arrived at work like normal and told her boss the news. She made plans around work for the appointments. However, the part time job had to go. She told Johanna she is giving her two weeks. During this time they fired a worker and had to bring John back. The reason was he has passed his 90 days, where Liz had not. They basically replaced her with John. This brought relief to Liz and gave her the weekend off.

Liz got back home and looked in the mirror. She had long dark hair with brown eyes. Her skin was a golden tan color. She is 6 foot tall and medium build. Liz thought of Red, a 5 foot 8 inches with pasty skin damn close to ghost white. His hair was red as the changing leaves during fall. He was not built, more like a twig that fell from a tree. Liz knew that was not her type but four years of Red asking her out. This is where it leads. Liz pictured her type, 6 foot 4, amazing blue eyes with dark hair. She wanted a man like her, loving caring, helpful, strong but a big teddy bear. She did not want a smoker or drinker, but someone who loves food. With Red, Lizzy was stuck eating hamburger and fries. mostly things from the fast food. Lizzy wondered what the child would look like.
