It was nice, laughing with friends, taking a moment to just be teenagers, enjoying the time together before the inevitable carnage that was to come.
"Well, I hate to say it...." Mark looked at his watch. "But it's time to go." Then he held up his hand, catching Candy's attention. "Check, please."
Candy came a moment later and gave us all our checks. "Thank you and please come again." Then she headed off to help another couple coming in the door.
"Everyone make sure you tip her well. She's a good waitress and took good care of us." Dakota got out his wallet and laid a twenty on our bill. Then he scooped it up and handed it to Candy on our way out. "Keep the change."
"Thank you." She smiled sweetly. "Have a great night!"
Yeah, I wish we could. But our version of a good night was to cure all the werewolves we could find. Somehow, I don't think that was something she wanted to hear.
"Don't work too hard," I said instead, following Dakota.
