"Oh, you look gorgeous!" Mom gushed, dabbing at her eyes as she took another picture on the front lawn.
Dad smiled as he slid his arms around her waist, leaning his head on her shoulder. "Let's let them go," Dad beamed. "They're going to the Homecoming Dance, not to moving away...." Dad narrowed his eyes at me and added, "Yet."
We all laughed.
Dad hugged me and then held me at arm's length to look at me in my long gown. "Jess, you look gorgeous."
A slight blush colored my cheeks. "Thanks, Dad."
Dad glanced over at Dakota and smirked. "And you clean up pretty good yourself."
"Thanks." Dakota chuckled, shaking my father's hand. "I'll take good care of her."
Dad nodded, giving him a manly slap on the shoulder, still holding his hand. "I know you will."
