"Are you ready for this?" I asked Micah as we stood outside the cave entrance.
One corner of Micah's lips curled into a smile. "As ready as I'll ever be. Let's do it."
When we walked in, it was dark, except for the light coming in through the window. But as wolf-shifters, we could see just as well in the dark as in the daylight. We crept between the stones through a natural walkway until the gray dust along the floor turned into a purple-gray as we went deeper into the cave. Along the path, oval jelly translucent objects lay in bundles along the cave walls—thousands of them.
Suddenly, we heard voices. I held up my hand to Micah and we stooped down behind a rock.
"Why have you not dealt with them yet?" an evil female voice roared. "This should have been over by now!"
"If we just kill them all, then it's going to attract more attention than we already have," a female said. It was Anae. "This town is crawling with supernatural creatures!"
