By the time I finished my coffee, Dakota's truck pulled into the driveway. After quickly washing my cup and setting it in the dish drainer, I turned off the coffee maker and hurried out. Dakota was already standing by the passenger door, holding it open for me.
"Long time no see," I teased, giving him a quick peck on the lips.
"Keep that up, and you'll be seeing a lot more of me," he teased, holding my hand as I climbed into the truck—always the perfect gentleman.
"Yeah, right," I said as he closed the door.
"So, to the diner?" he asked, already pulling out of the driveway.
I shrugged. "Sounds good."
I turned to look out the window and the bright morning sunshine illuminated the green grass that was already starting to fade. The leaves in the trees were beginning to change color as the faint hint of yellow and red started peeking through the green. Fall was on its way.
