"Jessica, wait," Dakota said, hurrying to catch up to me.
I stopped but didn't turn around.
He stood in front of me, placing his hands on my shoulders. "Jessica, look at me... please."
I raised my head but wouldn't look him in the eye. If I did, I knew I couldn't take it. My ehart was already breaking. This was hard enough as it was.
"Look at me!" He laced his fingers through my hair, placing his hand on my cheek. "Jessica, please. Look at me."
Tears welled up behind his eyes. "Jessica, I don't want to lose you. I love you." He pulled me to his chest, hugging me tightly. "And if it means that much to you, I won't talk to her anymore. I'll tell her to leave me alone." When he pulled back, tears were streaming down his cheeks. "No one, nothing, is worth losing you over. Please."
