"It's about time you got here." Michelle smiled, never tiring of her own joke.
I scoffed, shaking my head. "How do you always get here before me? Do you sprint after class or something?"
She shrugged, one corner of her lips curling into a smile. "I can't help it if you're slow."
"Yeah, right."
Just then, the new guy walked by. He looked over at Michelle and me and rolled his eyes. Then he headed into the cafeteria and froze when he saw the pack sitting at the first table. Dakota, Micah, Eric, and Austin rose to their feet, but the new guy walked on.
"Who is that guy?" Michelle asked, shaking her head.
I inclined my shoulders. "I have no idea, but he's got an attitude. That's for sure."
We watched, and he headed over to the snack machines, got a soda and some pork rinds, and sat at an empty table at the back of the room.
Michelle stepped forward in line. "Yeah, he seems like a loner."
