On the way to the diner, I texted Millie and Lucas to let them know to meet us there, just in case. I was sure that Michelle had already texted them, but I wanted to make sure they felt welcome to come, and a part of the pack.
"Are you okay?" Dakota asked as we drove to the diner.
"I'm fine," I replied, looking out the window, watching the bright green scenery pass. "I just hope that Jasmine isn't the other Wendigo. I'd hate to have to take her down." I looked into Dakota's eyes. "Could you imagine having to face Bash after that?"
Dakota pulled into the parking lot of the diner and turned off the engine. "Who knows? It may not come down to it. She may not even be the Wendigo." He cut off the engine and motioned with his head toward the diner. "Ready?"
I nodded. "Yeah."
He gave my hand a gentle squeeze. "Don't worry. Everything will work out."
"I know," I said, smiling. "Let's go."
