We thought we'd get married in the fall, maybe before all of you go back to school," Crystal beamed.
"Great!" I said, glad that she and Mark had finally found happiness.
They talked animatedly about wedding plans, but I discreetly backed away and headed inside, wanting to talk to Millie. But just inside the door, someone grabbed my arm from behind.
"She's okay," Dakota whispered near my ear. "Lucas is with her."
I nodded, letting out a deep breath. "Yeah, I guess you're right. I'm just worried about her."
"Me, too," Dakota replied. "But we need to respect their privacy. Lucas is with her and he'll help her."
I nodded, my lips curling into a smile. "Let's go back outside."
He nodded. "Okay, but first I want to do something."
"What?"
He stepped closer and pressed his body to mine, his sweet breath brushing across my face. "This." Then he crushed his lips to mine in a not-so-chaste kiss as passion overtook us both.
