Before I stepped into the shower, I was starting to feel the effects of the night. But when I got out, I felt much better. Knowing that the last night of the full moon was tonight, I couldn't lay down and go to sleep just yet. Also, Mom's time would be up when I woke, and I'd never forgive myself if I missed it.
After yanking a brush through my hair, I hurried downstairs to see what Mom and Dad had decided.
"We're going to do it," Mom said as soon as I stepped off the stairs.
My eyebrows rose nearly into my hairline as my heart stopped. "And Dad?"
She nodded, smiling. "He wants to, too."
I nodded, still not wanting to get my hopes built up. I headed into the living room, knowing she would follow. "Dad, Mom, you do realize there will be risks, right? And consequences." I shrugged. "I mean, you both could die."
Dad stood and took my hand. "Jessica, I'm not going to die."
