"You mind if I come in when I take you home?" Micah asked Michelle as the rain came down in sheets outside. "Your mom doesn't mind if we do our homework at the kitchen table."
Michelle kissed his cheek. "Not tonight, but maybe tomorrow."
Micah smiled, but concern was still behind his eyes as he kissed her forehead. "Wait here. I'll be right back with my truck."
She nodded. "Thanks, Micah."
"Don't worry," I interjected before he could ask. "I'll wait with her,"
Micah nodded once. "Thanks." Then he headed out into the driving rain and jogged across the parking lot headed toward his truck.
Just then, Dakota pulled up, but I wasn't about to leave Michelle alone.
"You can go ahead," Michelle said, eyeing Dakota's truck. "I don't need a babysitter."
I chuckled. "Well, that could be debated."
Michelle laughed. "Thanks a lot!"
"You're welcome." Then my expression turned serious. "That's okay. I'm not in any hurry."
