The sound of birds chirping outside my window in the early morning alerted me to the start of a new day. If the birds were back, then spring was definitely here. Although I loved it, there would be no more snow until winter came around again, which was a relief.
I looked around and Dakota had already left, so I quickly showered and dressed in my jeans, a blue dress shirt, and my black boots. Then I donned a long dark blue sweater instead of a heavy coat. Even though it was spring, it was still Colorado. And even though I really didn't need a jacket or sweater at all because of my wolf, I needed it as a prop around the humans.
Satisfied, I grabbed my backpack and headed downstairs. Dad was sitting at the table with his coffee reading the morning paper.
"Morning, Dad." I poured myself a cup of coffee and held up the pot for him. "Want some?"
