As soon as we got to the cabin, Michael was standing beside Julien, obviously talking strategy and details.
Dakota pulled his truck to a stop in front of the cabin as Dad pulled his truck in beside his. "Jess, stay in the car for a moment."
"No way," I said, suddenly panicked. "Dakota, what are you going to do?"
He let out a deep breath. "Nothing that he doesn't deserve." Dakota clenched his jaw, narrowing his eyes at Michael.
"Dakota, no!" I yelled, grabbing at his arm, trying to pull him back.
Dad saw what was going on and stood outside his truck, wearing a cocky grin, knowing what was coming.
Dakota pulled away from me. "Stay back." Then he got out of the truck and slammed the door closed in my face. I hurried to open it and started after him, but Dad caught my arm holding me back.
"Let him go," Dad said, his voice firm.
I stood beside Dad, fearing the worst.
