"Mark, if you need us, let us know," I said, standing at the door as we were leaving.
He knew I was talking about trouble form Cathy and not Crystal. "Thanks. You do the same."
Dakota gave him a manly slap on the arm. "Call us if you need us, man." Then he took my hand, led me to his truck, and opened the passenger door for me. He was in the driver's side a moment later.
"Do you think Crystal was telling the truth?" I asked as we headed home.
Dakota shrugged. "Well, if she wasn't, then she's had plenty of warning."
I let out a deep breath, watching the headlights light up the road ahead. "I hope she was serious. I feel sorry for Mark if she wasn't."
Dakota looked over at me and raised an eyebrow. "He wasn't kidding tonight when he told her that he was going to take her down if she lied to him again."
I shook my head. "For his sake, I hope he doesn't have to. He'll never be able to live with himself if he does."
