"Dakota, would you like to come over for pizza tonight?" Dad asked after the meeting. "I know Jess won't feel like cooking tonight."
Dakota nodded. "Are you sure it won't be an inconvenience?"
Dad burst out laughing. "Dakota, having you over is never an inconvenience." He leaned in for effect. "In fact, it's almost as if you're not around at all." He laughed at his own joke, knowing that Dakota was around a lot more than he let on. Then Dad pulled me in for a hug and kissed the top of my head. "I'll see you at home, honey."
"Dad, actually, I'd like to ride with you, if you don't mind." I looked over at Dakota and he nodded, knowing that I needed to speak with my father about our lineage.
He rubbed his chin. "Okay. If you're sure."
I nodded smiling. "You go ahead. I'll catch up." After Dad walked away, I pulled Dakota in for a hug. "I'll see you in a minute."
One corner of his lips curled into a sexy smile. "I'll be there."
