The next morning, I woke early, and the sun was barely peeking through the clouds. I quickly took a shower and dressed for school, eager to go to see Dakota. I knew I had a lot of schoolwork to catch up on, but luckily, I had only missed one day this month with the full moon, so it wouldn't be much.
When I was ready, I hurried downstairs and Dad was sitting at the table, dressed for work and eating a bowl of cereal.
"Well, good morning, sleepyhead!" Dad said, smirking. "I didn't want to wake you last night, so I saved you some dinner. It's in the refrigerator, if you want it."
"You mean to tell me that I slept all day yesterday and all through the night last night?" I asked, pouring a bowl of cereal.
Dad smirked. "'Fraid so, honey."
"Why didn't you wake me up?" I carried the cereal to the table and sat in my usual spot.
Dad shrugged, taking another bite of his cereal. "I figured you needed your sleep."
