"So, what do you want to do now?" Dakota looked at the time on his cell phone. "Why don't we eat first. If we wait too long, we'll have to go on patrol tonight without eating… again."
I chuckled. "Far be it from me to stand in the way of a man's stomach."
"That's my girl." Then he slung his arm over my shoulder, and we headed across the road together, stopping beside his truck. "So, where would you like to eat?"
I shrugged. "What are you in the mood for?"
"Pizza?" he asked.
I nodded. "Sounds good."
Dakota looked at my car and smiled. "Jess, why don't you leave your car here? Then you can ride with me and I'll bring you back for it?"
I shook my head, taking out my car keys. "Nope! It's my baby."
Dakota laughed. "I thought I was your baby!"
"Nope." I grinned. "You're my boyfriend."
