The strikes went on about for 3 hours straight. Tachibana went to sleep after a while. Fear must have been a lot of stress for her. Densetsu and I are also tired. Smoke and dust are everywhere. It's rather hard to breathe. But not anything too dangerous.
"So if the air strike is over, won't they send any army to scout the area?", Densetsu says.
"That's a good point. What should we do then?", I ask.
"Leaving is quite tempting at a moment like this. But I think we should stay. They can't find this place I think. Besides our town would be a good decoy. They'll search the area and hopefully leave finding no one. Better to spend the night here."
"So, what will we be eating tonight?", I ask.
"Tachibana brought some snacks. I think I should wake her up now.", Densetsu says.
"No, don't. She is pregnant, right? She needs some rest. We should handle the works.", I say.
"Should we make a camp fire though? I mean what if the smoke lures them to us?"., Densetsu says.
" Let's make a small one. You brought any fire starters?", I ask.
Densetsu hands me a lighter.
"I didn't know you smoked?", I ask.
"I don't. It's from my father. It's the only thing I have from him.", Densetsu replies.
What kind of father gives their son a cigarette lighter? Even if he doesn't smoke, it's quite a safety hazard. Oh, well. Atleast it'll save us from this cold now. It's already November huh. It's gonna get real cold tonight. I hope Tachibana can hold up.
I take some dry leaves, mash them together to start the fire with. Once it's on fire put small woods first. Then put in the big boys as necessary. There you have it. Campfire ready to roll. Tachibana woke up from all the sounds we were making. We should have stayed quite. She doesn't look mad though. She is trying to figure out a way to help out. Whenever she finds something to do Densetsu takes the work. What a distinguished gentleman should I say! Man, how he has grown! It was like yesterday he told me to do his homeworks, or told me to manage the teacher for his problems. Now look at him, not only handling his own butt but also looking after his own wife. I was probably staring too much at them.
Densetsu said, "Hey buddy either you are gay or you are jealous. Which is it?"
"What the...?? I'm not either.", I reply laughing. "I'm just thinking you have grown so much!"
"Yeah, you are gay.", He says.
"Atleast I'm not trying to Impress my wife, you housewife.", I laugh.
Tachibana gives me a blushing angry look.
"What snacks did you bring?", I try to change the topic quickly. Yeah, it was pretty awkward.
"Well, some crackers, candies, chocolate bars, some marshmallows too.", Tachibana says looking inside her bag.
Wow, she actually came prepared. I'm starving a lot. I wish we had meat. But this will do I guess. Tachibana heats up the chocolate, pours some on the marshmallows and then spreads some crackers on them. Then Densetsu heats it up a little. Boy this looks delicious. We don't have much. But it's enough for the three of us to spend the night.
