It was the third day of being in this stupid place. I hated it. I wished that Dasher was with me. The way he led, his voice, he was bestfriend and my brother. We weren't related, but blood doesn't matter. I had to go to some trial. The judge was some teenager dragon. And the jury wasn't even Frostwings! I had to sit on some leaf pile. I never had anything nice when I was younger. So this was new, and everyone took advantage of it. "Shut up you lazy dragonets! Order!" The judge kept shouting. He was really starting to get on my nerves. "Now, explain yourself Frostwing." He was acting like my dad.
"I am Storm. I am a part of the prophecy! I was with my friends when you rudely took us."
̈ ̈FRIENDS! Those dragons were the enemy! How dare you, you disgrace!¨
"Again, rudely. And we are supposed to be together! We are part of the prophecy!"
"DISGRACE! Stupid 'prophecy' that word is forbiten here!"
"Jeez, I'm sorry... "
"You should be! When we take over the Windwing territory, you'll die first!"
"Oh hush, let's not go lying now."
"HUSH!?!"
"Ugh, shut your snout!"
"This trial is over!"
And with that, I was finally outta there! I was taken back to my little cave and there were even guards at my cave. I had no powers whatsoever. When we were let out as little dragonets, it was usually night, that's how Dasher was able to get his powers. But I guess this is where I get my powers. But I didn't want it to be like this. I walked up to the guards. I sat down at the entrance behind the guards. "Do you guys have special Frostwing powers?" One guard grunted and then the other snorted. "Good joke." That was the guard who snorted. "You know what, ima call you fart. And the other old grumpy dude who can't laugh, ima call him…. Oh I know! Ima call him Granddaddy!" Both guards burst out laughing. "What? Like the names?" Now they were on the floor. I snorted and then silently flew off. I didn't have time to look back. I looked a lot like the other Frostwings so I'm pretty sure that it would be hard to find me. I flew off towards what looked like a village. When I landed, I tried to act like I didn't do anything bad. I saw a big crowd of dragons so I walked over to them. I caught bits of talking. And from what I got, I figured out what happened. "Didn't you hear!?!" "The prisoners got out!" "-and a shadowwing!" Uh oh. My friends were coming to "save'' me. That couldn't go well. Wait, a shadowwing! About a month ago, Dasher had gotten himself as a prisoner in the Frostwing village. We were nowhere near The palace. This was the outskirts. I guess the others somehow escaped and had Dasher with them! I couldn't wait! I flew back to my cave, so that the guards looked like the bad guys. The queen herself showed up to my cave! "What is wrong with you!? She is obviously here! Go. NOW! THAT IS AN ORDER!" Apparently I had the poor queen wrapped around my talon. "Ugh. Hooligans." The queen murmured underneath her breath. Wait a minute! What am I doing!? This is THE queen of my tribe! Bow now you idiot! "Oh, there will be no need for that. And please, call me Ice." Had she just read my mind! "Yes. why is that so new?" Uh oh. "Well I am- me and my friends are part of the prophecy…" The queen's face looked satisfied. "Delightful! I'm sure you'll make the right choice!" Was she always this nice? "Here come on, I'll take you to a better…. Place." Queen Icicle looked around at the cave walls in disgust. I honestly didn't mind it. It was similar to the cave I grew up in. "Follow me" The Queen spread out her wings and took off. I was almost knocked over by the wind from her wings.
I flew after her when I regained balance. We flew farther into the heat, and I saw a big huge castle! Was I really going to go inside the queen's palace?!? "Not quite." Icicle startled me for a second. It was quiet the whole way here. We landed on the grassy field outside of the gates. "Well, this is as far as I'm allowed to take you…. Tell me, is there something you need?" I guess the queen was really nice. I need help. "I need you to help me and my friends. They escaped from the prison, and they are probably coming here next." The queen's eyes were wide. "O-oh. I guess I'll call the guards to bring them here." Wow. That actually worked! Wait, here?!? "NO! I- I mean no...They can't come, well, here. Take them to my cave when you can." I tried to spill as much heart into my words as I could. "Tried? You did well little one. Make sure to stay awake." The queen walked over to one of the guards by the gate. I was out of earshot, so I couldn't understand what was going on. But then the guard nodded his head and flew off. I guess that takes care of one thing. I hoped that I was able to NEVER go back to that junk-space called "court". When the guard flew out of site, I looked back for the queen but only found the front doors to the castle close. The other guard grunted and I guessed that meant to go back. All by myself? I couldn't understand. I guess the guard didn't know who I was. That's the first. At least I'm not being discriminated against by someone. I tried to remember the path back to my cave, I saw a cave without guards and landed down to walk into what I thought was my cave. I looked into the cave to find a pair of Moonwing eyes staring at me. "Uh.. hello?" The Moonwing didn't seem completely dangerous. "Hi." His voice was strong and confident. "Come to guard me? Good luck." He chuckled like it was some kind of joke. "Uh, no. I thought this was my cave." He stopped laughing and looked at me more cautiously. "Wait, are you a part of the prophecy?" I looked him up and down and nodded my head slowly. "Well, tell me about yourself." I didn't understand. But I couldn't imagine how this was harmful. "Well, I like to run and jump and play. I was raised with a Shadowwing named Dasher. My name is Storm and I have a bunch of friends coming to save me from this awful place!" My face must have looked disgusted. "Your just like me! I hate this place! I'm best friends with a Shadowwing named Bonecrusher! Oh and I'm Bullet! Nice to meet you." He seems friendlier now. "But…" What was he going to talk about now…. "The Moonwings sent me to kill.." "KILL WHO!" If the Moonwings want to hurt MY friends! I'm going to kill all of them! "Well, the Moonwing, Windwing, and… you." He looked guilty and upset. "Wait, why?" I- what? "Because- well, I can't tell you. But, I don't want to kill you. Any of you." He looked like he was about to cry but he kept his position stiff and his chest puffed out. I walked closer to Bullet and put my wings around his. "It's ok to be upset…" Our tails entwined without me realizing it. I quickly pulled it back. "Thank you." He was slouching now in a sort of depressed way. I truly felt bad for him. I just met Bullet, but I couldn't help but be soft. "Can you tell me now, why you were sent to kill us?" He looked at me. "Well, the Moonwing council wants the Prophecy to be killed." He looked away from me. I stepped back, away from our warm wrap. "Why…?" My voice cracked and I wanted to cry so badly. "I, don't know that part." I couldn't keep it in anymore. I burst out in tears. I clutched onto Bullet so hard I thought I might rip his scales off. I sobbed so much into him. They wanted to KILL us! When I was little, I would wake up from nightmares. What comes after life? Darkness..? I could never explain my fear into words. It was like being on an Airplane and being stabbed in the back many times before you fell off the plane. And before you hit the ground, you got shot in the forehead with a bullet. It was more fearful than fear!
When I calmed down, I noticed that our tails weren't only entwined, Bullet was holding my like some kind of girlfriend! I didn't want to be rude so I backed away from him slowly. I looked him in the eye again and he looked away, red and pink spots coming up underneath his scales. I saw some guards come for his cave, and they looked angry. "You need to go! Now! They won't like it that you were here!" He pushed me out of his cave and I flew off without saying goodbye. I felt kinda guilty for not saying goodbye, I mean, I'm going to see him again. He is supposed to kill me after all. But I still didn't understand why the Moonwings wanted us dead? It made no sense! And why now!? Why not order the Flick Clan to kill us in our eggs? I mean, they were the group who raised us! I had a couple other run-ins with some grumpy Frostwings, but that was all. I found my cave and returned to it. My guards apparently followed me because they landed down shortly after I did. "Alright. I don't know what kind of game you think this is, but no more funny business!" I rolled my eyes then turned around to face the guards. "It was merely a joke." The guard was not on the floor laughing. He kinda looked, hurt. "That was a mea-" "Why do the Moonwings want to kill the prophecy?" I just had to know. "Wait…..? Wha…..?" The guards were in awe like this was the first time knowing about this. "Oh come on! It's so obvious that the Frostwings are secretly allied with the Moonwings!" The guard just looked at me with awe. Wait, how did I know that?! Did I just get my powers? Is that how I found out he was hurt? "Did… Did I just get my powers?" Mr. Fart over here just cleared his throat and said, "Well, I think so. Even though I always thought that you were a dud, yes." A du… what? "What's a dud?" The other guy looked like he was about to laugh. "What it sounds like. A Frostwing without powers." Oh. Now I feel stupid. That's great! "And hey, If you don't mind me asking, could you keep it down while some of my friends are here?" Oh great, another bunch of Frostwings! "Hey Froststorm! Whe- SNOWBALL!" The guard shouted. "Ewww!" The biggest Frostwing that landed was speaking, well more like shouting. "O-oh… I'm sorry… Sorry that your single!" The guard and what appeared to be "Snowball" started to laugh while the biggest Frostwing flared his nostrils. "Bla bla bla." He walked into my cave. "Annoying friends? Feel ya." He looked at me with shock. Then his face relaxed a bit. "Yeah… I'm Froststorm. That's my little sister, Snowball. And they are…" Froststorm's face dropped a little. "No one important?" Hey! I was trying to be nice! He nodded his head. We talked a bit longer. I got to know a lot about his sad past… The guard walked over to us and he pulled Froststorm away. I looked behind him and saw that everyone else was gone, except for his little sister. And then it came to be a quiet night. When the moon was at its highest, the guards left. I was surprised I was awake for this, but I took advantage of it. I thought about going to see Bullet, but I decided to sit on top of my cave, looking at the moon. It was beautiful. I always dreamt about coming here, coming home. But it didn't feel right. In fact, I disliked it. "Wow, your like an old lady." I almost jumped but the familiar voice behind me was so warm and welcoming. I turned around and found my guardian. "F-father?" I felt my voice crack, jeez I was emotional. "I'm surprised you still call me that. I thought you had already found your family. Your home." We just sat there in silence for a little bit longer. "Your my home." I found my voice and broke the silence. The old dragon just nodded his head and disappeared into the wind. I was just imagining… I realized that dawn was coming and jumped back down to my cave. Before the guards came back, Bullet was in my room. Well, cave. "Guess what~! I got my powers!" I hopped happily over to him. "Oh really?" Why didn't he just believe me? Does he think I'm not special? "Yes… I read a guard's mind! Turns out, the Frostwings are secretly allied with the Moonwings!" He just started to laugh. "But you don't have powers." Jeez! This guy is unbelievable! "But he was in awe! AND he said I had powers!" Bullet stared at me while a smile started to creep up his face. "Or. I was behind you, and he was in, how do you say it? Awe. Then, he read my mind as I told him to not let your hopes crumble." That actually made sense. "Aww, you gonna, cwy now?" I'm going to slit his throat. "B-but the Moonwings…" through the anger, I found sadness. "I have absolutely no idea where that came from! But we are certainly no allies with those, those, TRAITORS! How dare they choose Star over Light!" Bad topic. I get it. The next at least 3 days or so were very uneventful. Until… there was a lot of screaming further north. The guards flew away instantly, but I followed instead of staying in that dull cave. When I landed behind a building, I crept along the alley until I got a pretty decent view of what was happening. I saw a Frostwing's tail spike accidentally stab into Tidal's wing. Ouch… Even though it was a small hole, she roared in anger and in a flash, she snapped the Frostwing's neck. DOUBLE ouch! Note to self, don't get onto Tidal's bad list. I noticed that each Frostwing had a special necklace to tell which family they were from. And Tidal had a teal-white necklace on. Apparently, this wasn't her first fight. The others had ones too. Desert had deep red and Dasher, DASHER! He had a black one. I couldn't see Forest but I assumed he had something like a green one. I quickly ran through the panaking dragons and wrapped my wings around Dasher. Oh how I missed him so much! He stumbled back a bit then recognized me and did the same. He pulled away and looked around at the dead or unconscious dragons, reached over, and picked up a pretty icicle colored necklace. "Here, for you." He handed me the necklace, and as I put it on, I remember where I had seen it before. Royalty I had seen Queen Icicle with that type of necklace. This wasn't just any dragon, it was Frostwing royalty. A twisted sickening feeling started to form in my stomach. I heard wing flaps around me and saw the others taking off. Dasher quickly beat his wings after them and I realized he was tired. He must feel horrible, flying all day, and barely stopping. Just for me… Guilt ran all through me as I looked back at the village. I truly felt sorry for the other dragons, but I could never admit that. "Where are we headed now?" Forest swung up next to me. "Outta here!" He then hurried to catch up with Tidal. "He means to the Shadowwing's. That is what we all agreed on." At least one dragon here was sensible. "Thank you Desert." FINALLY! A friend! I didn't know that if I went with them, I would have to be on the same schedule. If I knew, I probably would have stayed! But no, I missed them a little too much… Mother would call me a softy. My mother would visit me sometimes. One night, I remember clearly. She flew me to a cave in between our little humble abode and the Frostwing territory. She trained me, well more like fought me! She threw punches every which way until all my scales practically dripped with blood! As she flew me back, she told me that I was weak. That I should never ever let anyone know anything. Espespecialy my feelings. Trust no one. I hated my mother more than any dragon in the world! I mean like, wanting to rip her throat out hate her. But there is a difference between love and care. Like, I cared for her, but wanted to kill her. Does that make sense? "Maybe that's just family love…?" OH MY GAW OMY GAW OH MY GAW! DID I SERIOUSLY JUST SAY THAT OUT LOUD!? Dasher gave me a pitied look. "Thinking about your mom?" Dasher knew how I felt about her. I nodded my head and looked half way down for the rest of the flight there. When we landed, the ground felt much warmer than my liking. I instantly bolted right back up again. The others laughed at me, but I mean like, can you blame me? I'm all icy and this is, well, not icy. "Quit laughing buffoons! UGH! No, I DON'T like this AT all!" Nobody ever listens to me! I looked around and saw desert for miles! Well this is a great day. Don't you just LOVE it here!? I hate my life.
