I followed the sounds of the heartbeats which turned out to be those of Lok, his daughter and son-in-law, plus Huang, and twenty two others. All but two of Lok's men had survived. The moans and cries of pain cutting me to the quick.
The slaughter was because of me. Lord Kai wanted to witness the extent of my powers from a distance, now that he knows I am alive. First rule of vampire warfare: Know your enemy.. That bastard!
If I know Lord Kai, he'll be heading north to the human compound.. For Mako. Anything to hurt me, that petty ass!
Lok saw me at the edge of the trees, and walked over, taking me into his arms, despite the fact that the 'presence' was in control. "Thank the Goddess you're okay, Aya! We have been so worried."
