Cassandra's P.O.V
Am graduating soon... It'll just take one year for me to finish school. Excited to venture next chapter of my life.
My family has a trading business and we got to travel in other parts of Europe.
As a gift for my graduation, My parents promised me that I will get to travel alone in Monte Carlo, Morroco.
Being the youngest amongst the children, I have lived a very decent life. I was usually spoiled by my parents and siblings.
They were so kind, I get the things I wanted without second thoughts.
I was born and raised in Seville, I have been exposed to various people.
Everyday, I got to see foreigners, local Spanish staying in the city. Since we are known to be one of the most romantic cities in the world. But despite of this, I don't have a romance of my own.
"Cassandra, mi hija" (my daughter in spanish)
"Puedes ir conmigo al mercado?" my mom asking me to go to the market with her.
"Si Mama."I replied.
It was a bright sunny morning, My mom and I arrived at Triana this the perfect place to immerse yourself in the flavours and savours of Andalucia.
I love being here once in a while. It is a meander between different specialities.
Each vendor serves as a guide who describes the gastronomic delights and seasonal products that this region of Spain.
"Cuánto cuesta este queso manchego?" (how much is the manchego cheese?) My mom inquired.
"Cuesta 16€ por kilo Señora" (It is 16 euros señora) She replied.
My mom bought the cheese and we hurried to the fish market there is fresh catch today.
We bought prawns, clams, squids and some salmonete.
"Looks like you're making Paella Mama" I quip.
"Si, Tu hermano y su esposa cenarán con nosotros esta noche." She answered that my brother and his wife will dine with us tonight.
"Let me make Natillas for them Mama." I excitedly told her.
After we bought everything that we needed we are about to go back home.
I Walked ahead of my mom, When an unexpected accident happened.
A man was shot and lay in front of me. He is about to faint. I called for help to call an ambulance
I was calling him and tapping his shoulders. Seeing him in this state gives me the instinct to apply first aid and make him stay alive.
Am a Med student, treating wounds is easy for me, but seeing this man bloody as hell makes me worried even if I don't know him.
"Señor, Señor, puede oírme No duerma." I continously asks him. "Please stay with me until the ambulance gets here."
His vision starts to blur, He is catching up on his breath. Applying pressure to his wounds gives him pain but I need to do it to keep him alive.
The ambulance finally arrived. My mom rushed to see if I am ok. She too was shocked and was worried to see me helping in the incident.
" Cassandra, Por qué te involucras en eso? también podrías meterte en problemas." My mom worried for me to get in trouble helping the man.
"It's alright mom nothing happened to me." I affirmed.
We hurried back home as the ambulance left the scene.
The face of the man flashes back to my mind hoping he survives.
He has a prominent jawline, has deep brown eyes and thick brows. He seems not a local and from the way he dressed he looks a professional.
We arrived home, "Dios mío, qué te pasó Cassandra, por qué te manchas de sangre?" My Dad hurriedly asked seeing blood all over my clothes.
"There was a man who was shot he passed in front of me so I helped him with the first aid before the ambulance arrived." I explained.
"Qué???? En qué estabas pensando y si el hombre armado también te dispara? Ve a cambiar!" My Dad worriedly telling me what if the gunman also shoot me. He ordered me to go change my clothes.
I went to my room and do what was I told.
The thoughts of the man still lingers in my head as if I already knew him for a long time. But I know I didn't. I just saw him today.
I heard my Dad talking to my Mom, "Qué pasó con el mercado de Allesandra? Por qué dejaste que nuestra hija se involucrara en ese problema?" He was saying why did she let me get involved in the incident what if anything happened to me. with a frustating tone.
"Don't blame Mom," I said. "She wasn't there yet when I encountered the man." I added.
My Dad gasps, "Mi hija, ten cuidado, no queremos que te pase nada."
"Don't worry too much Dad, nothing will happen to me." I assured him.
"Vamos ustedes dos Vamos a almorzar ahora." Mom called us to have lunch.
I went back to my room to take some rest. I was laying in my bed when an idea came to my mind.
I opened my laptop and search the incident happened this morning.
The news spread rapidly but the man is still unknown. But he was brought to Hospital de los Venerables.
There is an urge for me to know him. But knowing how my parents will get furious about the idea I didn't dwell in too much.
I tried to get a nap. I toss and turn in my bed.
I took my phone and scrolled Arturo's number he is a nurse in the hospital. There is a chance that he can get the information of the injured man.
"Hola Arturo ! Cómo estás? I asked if how was he." Me gustaría pedir un favor?" (Can I ask you a favor) I said.
What is it Cassandra? He replied.
Well the thing is... Do you know the man who was brought their in your hospital this morning? The one who had gunshots? I hesitantly asked crossing my fingers.
"Si, lo vi enviado a la sala de operaciones. Pronto será enviado a la sala de recuperación." He told me that he had his operation and will soon be transferred to the recovery.
What about him Cassandra do you know him? He asks.
"No actually I didn't know him. It's just that I was there when the accident happened." I replied.
"Oh poor Señor."He mumbled
"He's identity is still unknown there where no identification in his possession. The fact that there was no other person that had seen him except for the doctor who operated him the police is also waiting for him to wake up." He narrated.
"Gracias Arturo! See you soon!" I stated as I hung up the phone.
I went back to bed. Atleast now I knoe he's safe. I don't need to be worried. But as certain mystery can't get over with....
He is mysterious, handsomely mysterious....
