It could just be the overwhelming emotions inside of me that killed the Wisp. I had deep connections with this place. It was my hometown as one would call it. This area had a heavy atmosphere, almost as if the air there was much denser and much more humid…
As we walked, the group leader, Cyrus, was checking the wave signals. There was beeping, however there was nothing to be seen. "Ah. You see, the Wisp probably died due to the strong emission of magnetic fields. It is strong enough to kill. It is strong enough to be felt by humans. You might experience a heavy chest and atmosphere." Dr Smith spoke through the earpiece. "That is also the reason why Wisp field strengths are not on the radar. The emission is too strong, masking the location of the Wisps. This is dangerous. Ares, you need to deal with your emotions quickly. Do you copy?"
"Yes, I will try."
I was about to confront myself before I heard a voice. It was the same voice as my inner Wisp. "Don't. You will need this. Even if you try to stop yourself, they will still not show. The sensor is broken. It was damaged from the previous battle. That Wisp from before, his main goal was to distract and destroy the radar and it worked." I could sense at least 20 Wisps. Fuck.
I broke the news to the members, only they found out the hard way. "Screeeech!"
Leader Wisps, all Fire Types. They appeared from behind a building, and hurled multiple balls of blue flames. Blue flames? Ascile and Jhin flashed out a quick, strong but temporary barrier just in time. "You guys alright?" Cyrus asked. "We will be fine, for now. This barrier will not hold, and if it is used now, it would take up to 20 minutes to recharge." Fire Wisps are also called the Hellblazers. They were the first Wisps recorded in history, and by far the most aggressive. They are not the strongest Wisps, but they are the most lethal in terms of brute force. However, when in hordes, they can wipe out armies. With hordes of Leader Fire Wisps however, the number goes up thousand folds. I know that because I have seen the magnitude of a regular attack. Their brute fire is nothing to scoff at.
"Fuck! Run!" Cyrus yelled just as the shield went down. Being in the Frontier Corps, you have to do basic drills and mock battle and retreat situations. We have trained in a room of sprinklers to try to make it from one end to the other without getting wet. It trains our agility and ability to switch direction. Cyrus calls it the "Thunder wave rush" seeing as we had to run in a zig-zagged, sometimes curved manner to avoid and confuse the enemy.
We ran like we had no tomorrow. If we died, we would have no tomorrow. As I was running like hell, I changed directions in such a sharp angle, I twisted my ankle. I tripped forward, pressed my left ankle as hard as I could. I was out in the open with around 3 Leader Fire Wisps closing in on me. Was I gonna die?
The Wisp healing was helping but was too slow to get the hell out of there. I rolled on my back, and I faced them. In their thin yet blazing palms were enormous balls of fiery doom. As tears blurred my vision, I thought I saw them grinning… I closed my eyes.
They looked like the one that killed my parents. Why would such heartless creatures exist? No, who was doing this? Who created these motherfuckers? I needed power. Yes, power…
What awaited in front of me were those same 10 swords from before.
