Jason spent most of the day using Grix to different places. He found out that if he could picture a place he could go there using Grix it didn't matter if it was on the other side of the world. Currently he was sitting on top of the Space Needle in Seattle. He was admiring the view of the sunset when he hears his phone ring. "Hello?" He says not bothering to check the caller ID.
"Jason? You ok man? Why weren't you at school today?" George's voice belts out the series of questions in rapid succession.
"I found something out about my dad. And it kinda broke me for the day. I'll be back tomorrow." Jason says trying to sound reassuring.
"Don't bother. There's no school tomorrow. UA's rescue training facility was attacked while a class was in session there. Schools shutdown to beef up security." George says sounding excited.
"What? No fucking way." Then realization hits him. "So basically school is going to feel more like a prison." He says half jokingly.
On the other line George responds with a chuckle. "So Lillian, Blake, Trinity and I are gonna hang out tomorrow if you wanna join."
"What's planned?"
"Eh not much. We were probably going to head down to the Puyallup Fair Grounds." George responds.
"Yeah I'll join you guys. Where we meeting and when?"
"Be at my place around ten o'clock."
"Cool. See you then pal." Jason says.
"Yep."
With that his conversation with George ends and once more he's left alone with his thoughts. As night falls over the city of Seattle he looks up trying to see the stars. But with lights clicking on all across the city the stars never get a chance to shine and Jason can't help but think that sometimes he wants to be in another world. After a few more hours up on the Space Needle Jason once again portals home.
The Next Day.
Jason wakes up around four in the morning like usual. Instead of going out into the kitchen and making breakfast like normal he leaves the house still not wanting to face his mother. Before he leaves he pulls on a jacket. So he starts walking around the neighborhood. As he walks he pulls out his phone and checks Snapchat. Passing by his neighbors houses, and eventually getting bored of Snapchat, he pulls the hood of his jacket over his head and put in a pair of earbuds and turns on an audio book. As he walks he allows the voice of the reader to take him away from the world he lives in. As he walks down the road the fog still sitting heavy on the street, a figure appears walking towards him. A sight like that is likely to set anyone on edge especially when he's done this morning walk thousands of times and never seen anyone else walking. Jason supposed it wasn't impossible that someone else decided to take advantage of the empty early morning streets. And so he continued forward until he noticed the figure waving at him.
The only people who knew about his morning walks were his mom, who was at home asleep, and George and Lillian. So taking his phone out Jason opens Snapchat and snaps a picture of the waving figure and sends the photo to George. He positions the text bar beneath the waving figure then types "Dude if this is you this isn't funny." Looking back at the figure, who started walking towards him again, it didn't seem to check its phone. As he slowly walks towards the figure he creates a shadow dagger and keeps it tucked close to his side. As the figure grows closer, it slims out and becomes more and more feminine, and Jason slowly becomes more relaxed.
"Jason! Is that you?" A familiar female voice rings out.
"Trinity?" Jason responds.
She runs up. "Hey. I was starting to worry that you weren't you." She says.
"How did you know it was me?" Jason asked kinda confused.
"Oh well I was in the area because we are hanging out with George, Lillian and Blake today and we are meeting at George's and I knew you lived around here." She takes a breath then continues "So I checked Snapchat maps and saw you were out and about so I thought I'd walk with you."
"Oh. Well that's better than what I was thinking." Jason says.
"Well what were you thinking?"
"Well I thought you might be stalking me." He says with a grin.
She slaps his arm. "I'm not a creep geez Jason!"
"Well let's keep walking." Jason says.
She gives him a look like she's not sure if she should now. Then with a huff "Ok."
Now side by side, Jason with his headphones out now, the pair walk on and start talking. As they walk around the neighborhood they talk about everything they can, with the exception of Jason's new abilities, and the two started to find they had a lot in common. They talked for a couple more hours after the sun rose before finally making their way back to George's house. When they arrive Lillian and Blake are both standing their with an obvious awkward tension between the two. When Lillian sees Jason she runs up and hugs him.
"Wh..." Trinity starts.
"Hey Lillian are you ok? What up with the hug?" Jason asks looking to Blake who just shrugs.
"I'm fine." She says aloud. Then whispers "It was really awkward standing here with Blake."
"Oh. Ok." Then hearing a door open Jason looks up to see George stepping out. "George is here finally."
And with that she pulls away so fast she might've had a speed type quirk. "Good morning George!" She says with a little to much excitement.
Turning around George says "Hey guys. Glad to see you all made it. So you ready to go to the fair?"
The group loads into George's moms car, Lillian up front next to George and Trinity in the middle back seat sitting closer to Jason, the group of five pull away from the house and head off towards the fair grounds.
When they arrive they realize that they are going to have to walk pretty far. So the group of five parks and walks the mile and a half to the fair grounds. Lillian sticks pretty close to George and Trinity stuck close to Jason. And onlookers probably thought that Blake was a fifth wheel to a double date. As the group walks they talk about what they wanna do while there. The various rides and games make it so everyone has something to do.
Jason probably need this more than anyone after learning his father had murdered people. They might not have been good people but still..... his dad was a killer. And Jason needed a distraction. And this is just what the doctor ordered.
They went from ride to ride, roller coasters, carrousels, Ferris wheels, and from game to game, Dunk 'em, Ring Toss, there was even laser tag, which George was surprisingly good at. They decided to go to the house of mirrors. Right as they were about to enter an explosion destroys the carrousel.
A laughing voice comes over the intercom system. "HAHAHAHAHA!!! HEELLLOOO EVERYBODY!" The voice now raspy and low "I WOULD LIKE TO INTRODUCE MYSELF! I AM THE GAME MASTER! AND YOU WONDERFUL VOLUNTEERS ARE MY PLAYERS!"
