Meanwhile back at the lair of the international criminal organization, doctor Schmidt was working on extracting data from Lucell. Doctor Schmidt had him strapped down on a gurney with tubes injecting tranquilizers and tubes extracting fluids. "Yes! Yes!" The doctor yelled out. "This data is fascinating! This red man is not even a carbon-based lifeform. He is made of elements not even known in our universe! This is simply amazing." Schmidt said with joy. "Now I just need to use his elemental make up to calibrate my interdimensional transwarper and I should be able to open a sustainable portal across dimensions. Finally, I will get the recognition I deserve!"
Bzzt! Bzzt! A monitor makes noise next to Schmidt. "Oh, who would be calling me at this hour." Schmidt said as he answered his video call. "Yes! What do you want? I am very busy at the moment."
"Have you been successful, doctor?" A black silhouette said on the screen. "Was that the specimen you required for your experiments?"
"Yes, he is beyond anything I could have imagined." Schmidt replied. "He is working out much better than my last endeavor."
"Right, I remember that." The mystery man said. "It had something to do with a truck if I recall correctly."
"Indeed, it did." Schmidt said. "I designed a truck that when you were struck by it, it would teleport you to another world! However, from our end it just appeared that people died, and we have not heard from any of the experiments that made contact with the truck."
"So basically, you just ran people over with a truck and called it research?" The man on the screen said. "You have no proof that it actually sent them to another world?"
"I know it had to have worked!" Schmidt said. "I was really hoping one of them would have made it back though. If they would have, I would have been able to establish a link to that world and use my trans dimensional transporter."
"But now you have the red guy." The man said. "With him you will be able to use your transporter?"
"Oh yes!" Schmidt answered. "I simply need time to analyze the data and set the coordinate parameters on the device. Then we shall have our portal linking the two separate universes."
"And you are sure that opening a portal like this will be safe?" The man asked. "I invested far too much money into your schemes to have it blow up in your face at the end."
"Well, there are risks involved." Schmidt answered. "But what is science without risk! I mean there is a small chance the portal will destabilize creating an interdimensional tear that smashes our universes together and ends all life on both universes, but like I said that is only a small chance!"
"End all life?" The man questioned.
"It will be fine!" Schmidt responded. "Probably. Yes! Definitely! I will succeed, and who knows maybe I will find one of those people who got hit by my IAWT-01!"
"Your what?" The man asked.
"Oh, sorry I guess I never used that name for it around you." Schmidt explained. "IAWT-01 stands for Into Another World Truck mark one. I planned several more versions thus the mark one, but since I do not know for certain if the truck was a success, I stopped at one."
"Very good doctor." The man said. "Please keep me updated on your progress. I am extremely excited about having a whole new world to pillage of its resources. I will be able to turn the global economies on their head! HAHAHA!" The man continued to laugh maniacally until he ended his call.
Schmidt then turned to Lucell. "I am sorry we were so rudely interrupted. Now, where were we? Oh yes! I was analyzing the data!" Schmidt said with glee as he studied his screens.
Back at the military base where Mia was, dawn had broken, and Mia met with the General to discuss the strategy for the mission. "Ah welcome Mia!" General Adams said as Mia entered the room. "Please have a seat." As Mia sat down the lights in the room dimmed and a large screen lit up behind General Adams. "As you can see on the screen, we have located four of the bases of operations of the criminal organization that captured your friend. Each base is heavily guarded and any one of them could be the one where your friend is located. We have no intel on which one of these four bases house your friend. We do know that one of these four do indeed house your friend."
"So, if you know that Lucy is in one of the bases, why couldn't you narrow it down further?" Mia asked.
"It was a miracle we were able to narrow it down to just four to be honest." Adams explained. "The organization we are up against has well over a thousand bases worldwide. They deal in drugs, slaves, weapons, and other nefarious items. They are extremely skilled at covering their tracks, so the fact we got this intel is nothing short of amazing."
"Okay." Mia said. "I am sorry I asked. Sounds like you went through a lot of trouble to help me. So, thank you."
"It's fine." Adams replied. "You don't know if you don't ask. Since it is a toss up as to which base it is, we have come up with a plan of attack. We plan on attacking the base the furthest away first and then working our way to the bases that are closer. This will provide more flexibility to handle any changes at the bases closer to us. Also, by attacking the one furthest away from us, they may not realize that it is us who are attacking them."
"Makes sense." Mia responded.
"Your suit has been finished." Adams said as he pulled Mia's new suit out of the box next to him. "Here it is along with two of the guns that you were shown as well as the portable sword. Please take them and get yourself ready. Once you are prepared please make your way to the helipad. We are going to do an airdrop over the target to give you a stealth entrance."
"Alright." Mia said. "I don't know what a helipad or an airdrop is, but I am willing to do whatever it takes to get Lucy back."
"A helipad is the giant circle in the middle of the base with the big H in the center of it." Adams explained. "As for an air drop, it means you are going to jump out of the helicopter and land in the target zone."
"But I can't fly." Mia explained. "I mean I used to be able to fly but magic doesn't seem to work in this universe at all."
"You are going to use a parachute." Adams explained. "It is a backpack that opens up to slow your fall. I have faith you will be able to pull it off."
"Right." Mia said as she took all the items from General Adams. "I will leave at once."
"Please ask your pilot if you have any questions about the parachute or the jump." Adams said. "Monica will be your pilot; she will be more than happy to answer any question you have."
"The lady who did my measurements yesterday?" Mia asked.
"Yes, she helps out in the research and development division, but she is also one of the most skilled fighter pilots in the military." Adams replied. "You couldn't possibly ask for a better person to have in the air."
"Wow I had no idea." Mia said.
"A lot of the members of this unit do multiple jobs." Adams explained. "This helped in budgeting, so that we can spend more money in research of technology and less on personnel."
"Thank you." Mia said with a bow as she left the room. She then prepared herself and made her way to the helipad where Monica was waiting.
"Welcome Mia!" Monica said as Mia approached. "Are you ready to depart?"
"Yes." Mia answered. "Let's go save Lucy." Mia said as she got in the helicopter.
