Chereads / Batman: Reborn As Bruce Wayne / Chapter 10 - 9. Cleaning House

Chapter 10 - 9. Cleaning House

"Gordon? You the one who called me here?" A blond hair man in a tan suit called out.

"Harvey?" Gordon looked back with a frown, he had a neat blue suit and held a cigarette in his right hand.

"I'm guessing you didn't." Harvey also frowned.

Both men stood on top of a abandon building infront of Grant Park, each men had the same question. Who sent for them?

"We got the same message saying. "If you want to clean up Gotham meet here." Yeah probably not a normal field trip." Harvey smirked.

Gordon shook his head with a smirk on his face that then trined serious as he pulled out his gun and aimed at Harvey. "Move into the light!" He ordered.

Harvey paled. "Hey, what is this?!" he panicked with his hands rased up.

Gordon grinded his teeth. "Harv, shut up and come to my side!" He ordered.

Harvey finally noticing the gun wasn't at him hurriedly walked by the police officers side and noticed the silhouette in the darkness.

'What the?' Both men thought as what they could only describe as a Bat walked out of the shadows.

Something clicked in Gordon's head. "Are you Batman?!"

Harvey looked at the man in a black amd red suit. 'Batman?' He said in his head almost a little sacred of the situation.

--------------------

Batman looked at the two men with his red eyes and spoke in his robotic voice. "Yes, I'm Batman."

Gordon took out his handcuffs with his left hand while aiming his gun with his right hand. "I'm going to have to see your hands!" He ordered.

Batman didn't move and just spoke plainly. "I have evidence that can put Carmine Falcone in prison for a long time. Along with dozens of other criminals, cops, and politicians."

Both men just stared at Batman and didn't say a thing. First the shock of a man dressed as a Bat and then he drops a bomb saying he can give evidence that can help Gotham.

--------------------

Gordon found all this hard to believe, how is he supposed to trust a vigilante. Someone that believes they are above the law and goes around brutalizing people just because he can. Gordon believed himself a good cop, he couldn't see himself working with a vigilante it went against his code. But was working with Batman a necessary evil just so he could clean the rote out of Gotham. He has been watching the city fall for years and he couldn't do a damn thing because all the corruption. Now he has a chance and he is leaning on taking it for the greater good, for Gotham, for his family's future.

"I'm listening." Gordon said while lowering his weapon.

--------------------

Harvey, much like Gordon believed the same but also felt it was a necessary evil. He wanted to make his father proud by following in his footsteps. But could he trust a man dressed as a Bat, could he put himself and Rachel at risk for this chance for a better Gotham. He didn't say anything and stared intensely at the man dressed as a Bat.

--------------------

Batman smirked and rased his right hand and held out a black flash drive. "This contains everything that you would need, just need some help outside of Gotham and you should be good."

Harvey spoke first. "Outside of Gotham? Does Carmine have that much power in Gotham?"

Gordon frowned "He does." He said bitterly.

Batman nodded. "He has the Commissioner, Mayor, and a number of Judges and Lawyers." He said as he handed the drive.

Harvey looked at Gordon. "I can contact some of my dads old FBI contacts and see if they will help us."

Gordon nodded. "I'll gather all the good cops I know and prepare for the fallout."

Harvey looked away from Gordon while saying. "Who are y..." He looked around not seeing anyone but Gordon. "He's gone."

--------------------

"So a man dressed as a Bat gave you evidence to clean up Gotham?" Rachel asked in disbelief.

"Yeah that whole Batman myth going around is actually true." Harvey confirmed.

Rachel looked at him with a face full of disbelief. "So if I believe you then what's the plan?"

"I need to make some phone calls and get back with Gordon." Harvey answered.

Rachel frowns. "Harv, I understand why this needs to be done but what if..."

Harvey wraps his arms around her cutting her off. "I already know the risk Rach. That's why I want you to leave town, stay with family or a friend. At least till all this ends, it should only take about a week, tops. I have to do this for m...."

Rachel cut him off this time. "For your father, I understand that... I just wish someone else could do it." She sighed. "I'm not leaving town!"

"Rach..."

"No, I'm staying with my fiance." She looked up at him with a smirk. "How do you plan on prosecuting everyone without your lovely assistant?"

Harvey huffed then a smile creeped across his face. "Fine then, I have a fun safe place we can stay."

--------------------

Gordon stood in an abandon warehouse with 20 other cops infront of him while he smoked a cigarette. He was deep in though about what he is going to tell all his fellow officers.

"Lieutenant, why are we here?" A random officer broke the silence.

"Yeah what's with all the secrecy?" Another asked.

Gordon took one last puff of his cigarette and threw it on the ground with a sigh. "The FBI is coming to help us clean up the department and the city." he said simply what Harvey said to him earlier that day. "I brought you all here because I trust you all the most. I'm sure you know the rote in GCPD and city officials is a major helper in Gotham crime." Gordon looked at every face in front of him and continued. "We need to be prepared for what might happen and clean up after everything starts going down."

All the cops looked shocked at what the just heard. "Who are we going after?" One of the cops spoke up.

"Carmine Falcone."

--------------------

"Master Bruce? Miss Dawes and Mr Dent have arrived." Alfred informed a sleeping Bruce.

Bruce sat up and stretched his body and nodded to his butler. "Alright Al, give me 10 minutes and I'll be down."

Bruce sighed and got out of bed and headed towards the bathroom for a warm shower. With a smile on his face he thought about last nights patrol, taking down random thefts and assaults.
