After Vasshu left, I began putting out the fire I used to cook food, so I can finally begin searching for a Shadow Beast.
I really don't have any plan to track one down, but I do plan on going through the forest to the mountain range and look for some caves. A Shadow Beast likes dark places, so a cave is an ideal place for it to live in.
But as far as to make it submit, I honestly don't have any idea, so I will just go with the flow and see what happens.
While going through the forest I was attacked by Danger Beast after Danger Beast which I found really weird, but they were really weak, so I didn't think any further about it and just cut them down with my blade easily with a stoic and boring look.
---Shadow Beast hiding in the shadow 3rd POV---
"Gegege" (Meaning = This human is god, he's disposing of all the Danger Beasts I provoked and lured here, but why does he look so bored? I don't believe the funny me cant make him raise an eyebrow!)
The Shadow Beast said to itself and took Tatsuki's facial expression as a challenge while looking at Tatsuki from a shadow where it's hidden and out of sight.
"Gegege" (Meaning = Hehehe, I just got a great idea, to make this person pissed and remove that irritating look on his face!)
It then began laughing after cooking its next prank and smiled with a wide mouth that is curled into a sinister grin, and moved into Tatsuki's shadow.
---Back to Tatsuki's POV---
'Huh!? Why does it feel so cold suddenly?' I thought while shivering a little, but my face showed no reaction while looking around but I found nothing noteworthy, so I just proceeded to go deeper into the forest.
When I was about to step over a tree root, for some reason I fell over it and I made a front roll before quickly getting up and ready for an incoming attack, but no attack came at me.
It really puzzled me, I usually don't make such beginner mistakes, because my footwork and balance are top-notch trained by jumping on wooden blocks.
I just dismissed it as my mistake but my vigilance is at its highest now, to not make such a fatal mistake again that it may cost my life in the worst scenario.
But weird things kept happening to me and my surroundings that kept me on edge all the time like:
-Almost falling over stones and tree roots multiple times.
-Fruits and nuts falling closely hitting my head, before dodging.
-Me going in circles in the forest.
-Or running into sleeping Danger Beasts, and waking them up.
'This is too much of a coincidence all happening to me over this short time I have been in the forest, and I have a feeling something is watching me but I can't pinpoint its location.' I thought to myself while holding my chin thinking about reasons for this happening.
'It's almost like my senses are confused by somethi- wait confused? That's one of the Shadow Beasts abilities listed in the book I read! So it may be hiding in the shadows around me huh?' I kept thinking about how to lure it out and tame it while looking around in the shadows.
But I don't even know what it eats, so I can't lure it out with food, but it sure is mischievous Danger Beast.
'Now that I think about it, who stole Vasshu's gun if it wasn't me? It may actually have been this Shadow Beast that played Vasshu and me, by stealing it and throwing it beside me, making Vasshu think I was the thief.'
I don't think any normal human can steal Vasshu's gun right under his nose when he has such a crazy reaction speed, and getting close to me without realizing before throwing the gun beside me is a great feat. That's why I think this Shadow Beast is the perpetrator.
I think it got attracted to the shiny guns, but I don't have anything like that, so I got the stupid idea it may like some magic tricks from my previous life because of its nature as a prankster.
As I don't have any idea where it's hiding I just sat down on a stomp and began doing magic tricks, like the floating finger trick, repair a broken coin and note.
But as I began thinking that I didn't get its attention, I looked a little downcast and by chance looked at my own shadow. There I saw something that nearly gave me a heart attack, 6 red eyes shining and looking at my hands intently.
'Shit, it's actually hiding in my shadow, what a scary ability being able to hide there so freely,' I thought shortly before trying to communicate with it and probing its intelligence.
"So are you going to hide in my shadow forever? If you come out I will show you a new magic trick." I looked into the Shadow Beast's eyes and said getting its attention away from my hands.
After a few seconds of looking between me and my hands, it said something.
"Gegege" and it slowly began coming out of the shadow on four legs, before rising to stand on two like a human with a sinister grin while it raised a claw pointing at me.
"You want me to show the magic trick now?" I asked guessing its meaning for pointing its claw.
"Gegege" It opened its mouth wide and said something I don't understand while crouching on its hind legs, watching intently.
'It's more clever than I thought, but it's like a child watching a magic show.' I evaluated.
"Ok, you see this coin right?" I asked it.
"Gegege," It said while nodding multiple times, possibly getting impatient and wants me to continue quickly.
"Now watch, the coin is gone." I waved my hand and showed my palm where the coin should have been.
"Do you know where I'm hiding the coin?" I asked the Shadow Beast.
It pointed to multiple places on my body, and I said its wrong every time.
"It's in your ear!" I gave it the answer while pointing at its ear.
"Gegege?," It said touching its ear while looking at me with a questioning gaze while searching for the coin. When it found nothing it was about to get angry, and before it could I said.
"Let me take it out for you," I told the Shadow Beast, before stepping forward and took the coin out of its ear and showing it.
"Gegege?!" It was surprised the coin came out of its ear, before falling on its back laughing creepily.
"If you liked the magic tricks then how about coming with me?" I asked it after it stopped laughing getting its attention again.
