I grab the book from the stand on the table and shut it before turning and running back the way we came. The face on the page was long forgotten as I pick up speed. I put some distance between Lei and I, but I'm not worried about him at the moment.
Teo is in danger.
The pained groan I heard over the phone is playing over and over in my head, and fear is building as I wonder and hope if Teo is hurt.
If we were discovered and she was attacked for helping me... Oh god, I hope not. I hope Morwenna wouldn't do that.
I hope that I am her only target and that she won't hurt Teo as collateral. Or Calvin for that matter, who was also helping me by keeping an eye on Morwenna.
Maybe that was why we were discovered in the first place. It wouldn't surprise me if Morwenna realized she was being followed. I keep trying not to underestimate her, but at the same time I needed to try. To try and do something and fight back.
