My ear twists towards the sounds as I hear footsteps quickly making their way to me. Rees is not far behind, so I move my paw but take a step backwards instead. I turn, my feet hitting the ground hard enough that dirt flies behind me as I put distance between myself and the lake behind me.

I am surprised that there is no other soul in sight, save for the dispersed nocturnal wildlife. Other than the hint of smells that seem to belong to a nearby city, I have not come across any human or other werewolf scents within miles of us. We are isolated out here.
