"I wondered what had been keeping you," Ryker says to me. "I went to your room and was surprised that you hadn't returned yet."
"Right," I swallow heavily. We had made plans to meet up after class since he is supposed to be staying in my room tonight. It's just a sleepover between friends, I tell myself. A sleepover, that's all. "I got a bit sidetracked," I say.
"I see that," he smirks at me. "I'll make sure to handle that particular pest so he doesn't bother you again." I would thank him, but I don't think he wants to hear that at the moment, so I squeeze his hand meaningfully, conveying more to him that words could at the moment.
