"As I said, this game 'Why Not my Prince?' is a f*cking awesome game!"
I signed loudly, "Do you know how cringey it is when you say it like that?" Daichi grabbed my shoulders and shook them roughly. My head felt similar to being tossed like a ball back and forth.
"So what? It is popular now you know. You should try it. I mean it did get me hooked." Daichi swoon at the thought, his first time completing the first male lead route.
I sighed louder, "You said that so many times already. You DO know we have our mid-years soon right?" I lightly punch his shoulder.
Daichi scoffed. "When do you care so much about mid-years? Trying to be Mr. goody two shoes or a teacher's pet?" I chuckled at his statement.
I elbowed him. "Ow!" He pouted then glared at me, "Anyways I couldn't care much about your issues sooo, play this game! Pretty please! It would mean so much to me. I'm f*cking serious!"
It was my guilty pleasure playing these types of games yet it did bring me a short moment of satisfaction. I would have cosplayed, but...
Only Daichi knows about this fact about me.
I was very cynical of what he proposed but I trust his words, no questions asked.
We parted our ways after reaching the bus station. I headed straight home. Unlocking my door as it creaks. I stride in closing the door behind me before settling down. My house is slowly perishing, the lights are flickering slightly, the washing machine keeps on rumbling in a variety of ways and lastly, my bed is simply a worn-out futon*.
It a simple yet comforting house for me.
I fell on my futon face first and took out my phone to charge. I gazed into space thinking about my future whether the path I was taking was a proper path, it got depressing real quick, I smirked and slowly dose off.
"VRRRR VRRRR VRRRR!" My alarm on my phone rang viciously even on silent mode.
I lethargically open my eyes looking at the time, "Holy sh*t! I'm late for work."
I scurried over to my clothes hanger and quickly grabbed my work attire and changed into it. Swiftly exiting my decaying house, and took off to the nearest bus stop.
~
It was dark as I tried to pry my eyes open on the bus, but for me, it was too draining. I look at the missed messages mostly from advertisement and seldom from Daichi.
However, this time it was Daichi was sending me many information and screenshots that he completed for the different characters from 'Why Not my Prince?' it was even more cringe-worthy to mouth it out.
I realised that I reached my stop and got down, it was nearing 11 am, I rush back home as the next 2 days I could use to ease my anxiety.
~
I entered my 30x30 inches sized bathroom. I soaked myself in my tiny bathtub, scrubbing all the dirt off my body. I was disheartened to get out of the bathtub and if I didn't I would have fallen asleep, as I do I wiped my misty mirror. I stare at my reflection, I had quite a pale complexion, my obvious dark circles to pair with my tiny eyes and short eyelashes. My mop-like hair that I had not tend to, reaches down to my eyes. My chapped lips were cracking and peeling off. My long term build-up gloomy aura is certainly obvious. My 1.57m in height is not helping either. I look down at my body, it was so skinny that I can see my bone protruding. My figure is similar to a malnourished boy in Africa.
'I feel so disfigured. Ugly as well.' If I were to comment on my appearance I can go on and on about it.
I got out of the bathroom and decided to download the game that Daichi had been dying for me to play.
While downloading the app, 'Why Not my Prince?', it had 25 million downloads and 1.5 million reviews as I scrolled through. The majority was 5 stars review which impressed me.
After downloading the app, I start to run the app. The visuals were amazing the art style actually suits my taste, the song was really incredible as it was catchy in a not annoying way but a refreshing yet fascinating way.
It indeed was an Otome* game, which drags down my expectation a lot. (A/N cuz it's not bl LOL)
Now now, I don't have anything against the otome games, it's just that the plots are usually cliche albeit, the main character who easily win over many other capture targets. Usually, the main character will fall for the male lead instead of the other capture targets and of course there will be a villain against the main character.
I refrain myself from reading the detailed plot before playing as it would spoil the fun.
When I started the game, the theme song played loudly with some animated scenes. The background was simply breathtaking. It was during the medieval period, which made the story more intriguing.
I ended up playing for hours without pausing.
~
I woke up groggy for playing 'Why Not my Prince?' without taking a break, which was a bad idea as my head felt like being pounded by a hammer, a real huge one... similar to a hangover I guess.
"Bzzzz" I suddenly turn towards my door which was a bad idea. My headache got worse, I tried standing up and didn't know how I got to the door as the pain was excruciating. I open my door to see a plain and mysterious package.
'Weird, I didn't buy anything online did I?'
I drag the box in and examine before opening it. A bright light exploded in front of me, I felt light pulling me into the box.
The last thoughts I had was that the box said, 'Omae wa mou Shinderu!' I scream out "Nani!"
Just then, everything was still once more, not a single cricket could be heard. Without his presence, the room became cold, colder than before. It seems as if everything froze in the small apartment.
Even if it was summer.
